Actor Emma Watson partners with Australian business Good On You for Vogue special
WHEN Sandra Capponi started her ethical fashion start-up Good On You in 2015, sustainable fashion was still considered a niche area that often featured
expensive and sometimes ugly designs.
But the latest edition of Vogue Australia involving Hollywood star Emma Watson is set to turn these perceptions upside down and potentially drive this
Aussie business into the mainstream.
Ms Capponi was contacted by Watson’s team late last year to be involved in the March edition of Vogue, which will be guest edited by the star and dedicated
to sustainable fashion.
The Melbourne resident said she was “incredibly excited” when she got the call and humbled that her business was being recognised as a leading voice in
sustainability.
“Both Emma and Vogue getting behind this is really important and very exciting because it does make a difference,” Ms Capponi told news.com.au. “It
raises awareness and fast-tracks the process that many are working towards.”
The 36-year-old used to work in the corporate sector. She was motivated to start Good On You, which has its headquarters in Sydney, after seeing the
negative impact of business supply chains.
“I became exposed to the huge impact businesses have on society and the environment and I tried to push change from within the sector but the more I
thought about it, the more I realised there was a huge role for each and every
one of us to drive this change — and this was through the purchasing decisions
we make,” she said.
