Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Royal” finally made its highly-awaited comeback on April 1st, April Fool’s Day, joining this month’s Jordan releases 2017. Along with Nike.com, the Air Jordan 1 “Royal” became available at retailers like Champs Sports, Finish Line, Foot Locker, Eastbay, Kixify and others at a price of $160. Like the original, its uppers were made up of smooth and tumbled leather, dressed up in the classic Black and Royal Blue color scheme. Sneakerheads were probably not expecting an Air Jordan 1 “Royal Satin” to arrive on April Fool’s Day, but it actually did and it was not a joke.Back in October 2016, Jordan Brand celebrated “Banned Day” by releasing and restocking a bunch of colorways of the Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 31, including the “Banned” iterations. However, that was not the only thing they did. They also dropped the Air Jordan 1 “Banned Satin,” something that sneakerheads were likely not expecting. The catch was that only 501 pairs of the sneaker had been available and so, not every sneakerhead who was interested was able to cop a pair. Moreover, those 501 pairs of the sneaker were exclusively available at Jordan Brand’s New York City-based 108 Wooster Street pop-up shop.
Thus, the arrival of the Air Jordan 1 “Royal Satin” was not any different. From a distance, this sneaker probably looks like any other pair of the Air Jordan 1 “Royal” that returned recently. Of course, that is not the case. Instead of the traditional smooth and tumbled leather combination, its uppers are actually made up of satin, while sporting the same classic color scheme. Judging from one of the above photos, it came with some kind of a special hang tag as well that appears to be covered entirely in the Royal Blue hue.As mentioned, this was not an April Fool’s Day joke, rather this sneaker was indeed available.
