Path of Exile: Incursion is what you get when you mix time travel with dungeon runs. It’s sort of like Indiana Jones meets Doctor Who, only with much, much more gibbing. The upcoming Challenge League sees you hunting down the lost Vaal Temple of Atzoatl, hopping back in time via Incursions to discover its location. But there’s a twist: everything you do while exploring Atzoatl in the past will affect its form when you eventually discover it in present-day Wraeclast.

The Incursion League arrives on June 1st, and brings with it a pile of new content. As you travel around Wraeclast and the existing world, you will encounter explorer Alva Valai, who offers you the opportunity to explore the lost temple of an ancient civilization. The Temple of Atzoatl is crammed with powerful relics and enchanted riches, but gaining access to its plunder will present a unique, dire challenge.

Once you’ve finished all the Temporal Incursions, Alva will be able to pinpoint the location of the Temple, back in the present day. Head there, and you’ll be treated to a dungeon run that’s been set up to reflect your choices in the incursions. Different room configurations will mean different challenges, traps, and monsters to face, and if you play your cards right, unique gear that you can’t find anywhere else in the game. By the way, you can buy cheap Path of Exile Orbs from 5mmo.com, where you can enjoy a 3% discount by using the code “5MMO”.

Talking to Alva will send you back through time and space to when the Temple of Atzoatl was under construction. You’re only there briefly and limited to a single chamber, making for a frenzied little bit of time-attack dungeon delving, but spilling Vaal blood extends your assault. Rampage through the chambers, smash everything you can and you’ll somehow secure the existence of that section of the Ziggurat in the future, as well as open up routes to more chambers. Plus, all the loot you beat out of the Vaal will be dragged back into the present with you once your time runs out, giving you a knee-deep pile of goodies to sift through each incursion.

One other interesting tidbit is that the corruptions from Vaal Temples that were introduced with Incursions are being added to the pool of potential rolls from Vaal Orbs. For the uninitiated, Vaal Orbs are a currency in POE that “corrupts” an item and modifies its properties. These are particularly dangerous, but sometimes useful, since they can do things like greatly enhance the power of a Unique item, but Vaals have a much higher change of “bricking” the item and modifying it in a way that makes it useless. With the introduction of Incursion to 3.5 and the increased amount of beneficial corruptions, this is a slight buff to overall positive outcomes from Vaal Orbs, while being a slight nerf to the chances of getting a specific corruption. The Double-corruptions from Incursions themselves will be re-introduced with  3.5 as well.
