Far Cry New Dawn is a far cry from its predecessor. While Far Cry 5 was content to deal with a picturesque vision of Montana and pitting players against a nefarious cult decrying the end of the world, Far Cry New Dawn changes things up considerably, injecting a wild amount of color into the game and inviting players on a rainbow-infused journey through the apocalypse. The tone is drastically different, the enemies have changed, but most importantly — it's a lot more fun than the first one.

Far Cry: New Dawn features a host of fun guns for hire that can be unlocked as you progress through the story. Guns for hire can be called in to fight the Highwaymen alongside you and each possess their own weapons and special abilities. New Dawn's guns for hire include returning characters from Far Cry 5, as well as some stranger additions such as a wild boar named Horatio and a violence-loving grandma named Nana. However, the most mysterious gun for hire is a silent character, only known as, The Judge.

All the evidence you need for The Judge being Rook is waiting inside the bunker on what used to be Dutch’s Island. Inside you’ll find scribbled notes written by Rook. These notes chart how Rook felt some very severe survivor’s guilt from living through the nuclear blasts with their friends’ fates unknown, and shows how they eventually succumbed to Joseph’s message and became a follower of his. Although The Judge's identity isn't officially revealed, over the course of Far Cry New Dawn bits and pieces of the face behind the mask can be put together. Their silent nature, their prior relationship with Joseph Seed (that seems to stem from before the nuclear war at the end of Far Cry 5), and the fact that no character ever specifies the gender of The Judge all points towards one conclusion. The Judge is The Rookie, the playable character of Far Cry 5.

While it is not explicitly confirmed that Rook is in Far Cry New Dawn, it is strongly hinted that he is in fact The Judge. You’ll meet The Judge in Eden’s Gate, and can even recruit him as part of the Guns For Hire system. While on the “The Prophecy,” you’ll come across the bunker that Joseph and Rook were in at the end of Far Cry 5. There are several notes that you can find indicating that the Deputy was indeed turned by Joseph.
