The Student Assistance program will pay up to $900, but only in California and Phoenix.Hyundai is aiming to help folks with student loan debt enjoy the benefits of owning a new car. The automaker is testing the waters on a new program called Student Assistance, which will pay up to $900 towards a customer’s student loan debt. The catch is, of course, you have to buy or lease a new Hyundai vehicle. And it’s only available to people in California or Phoenix, Arizona. For now, anyway
"We recognize that student loan debt is one of the most significant financial stress points for people and we want to help address that issue, while allowing people to take advantage of the many benefits of owning a new vehicle," said Michael DePaul, director of retail operations for Hyundai Motor America. "Making things better is at the heart of everything we do, and that’s why we are directly contributing to helping our customers get out from being under the burden of student loan debt."
To help make this happen, the automaker partnered with Gradifi, which deals with student loan benefits. In short, interested individuals jump online  to check for eligibility. If everything comes up green, the person is given a reward code that can be plugged into another website once a Hyundai vehicle purchase is made at a qualifying dealer. That’s when Gradifi comes into the mix, sending out instructions to the buyer on registering and creating an account with the service. Once all the details are verified, a contribution up to $900 goes directly to the buyer’s student loan.
