Benicia-Martinez Bridge

This bridge retrofit uses the world's largest seismic isolation bearings. The bearings can displace +53 inches while supporting loads of 5 million lbs. The ability of the Friction PendulumTM bearing design to avoid eccentric gravity loads in the truss structure, and the low profile bearing height, saved millions of dollars in retrofit costs, compared to the equivalent rubber bearing design.
