An unidentified gunman kidnapped renowned pop singer Ali Zafar and his fiancée Saturday but freed the couple after the singer's family paid Rs 2.5 million ransom.
Ali Zafar, resident of 114-U Block, Defence left his house in the evening along with his fiancée Aisha for a dinner at a local hotel. After taking dinner both reached at H-Block Defence Market where an unidentified kidnapper held them on gun point.
The kidnapper forced Ali Zafar to driver for three hours at different roads of the city including Mall Road, Jail Road, Main Boulevard Gulberg and Canal Road.
The kidnapper told Ali Zafar and his fiancée to contact their relatives for ransom. Ali Zafar contacted his relatives who reached near Pace, and the kidnapper received Rs 2.5 million ransom from them. After receiving the ransom, the kidnapper dropped Ali Zafar and Aisha near Chauburgi and drove off with their mobiles and car.
Ali Zafar after being released contacted the police officials who found his car abandoned near Data Darbar. Defence (B) Police Station registered a case against unidentified kidnapper on the complaint of Ali Zafar.
