I love to hear the sound of the gentle rain,
As it hits softly against the window pane.
When I see the rain it makes me wonder though,
Is it really God crying and letting his pain show.

Does he change the rain into a raging storm,
To drive us inside where we will be safe and warm.
Where we will all have to just sit still for awhile,
To stop the hate and fighting and again try to smile.

Thunder and lighting rage mightily across the sky,
Followed by loud grumbling thunder, I wonder why.
Is God mad at us then and is he trying to say,
We need to go inside and there he wants us to stay.

Sometimes after the rain if you look around,
Off in the distance there is a rainbow to be found.
There is a story that is told, at the very end is a pot of gold.
I wonder has anyone ever been able to find the end,
The rainbow is always gone when you go around the bend.

After the rain the sun will come out once again,
And it seems to say to you, “Hello Friend.”
When you go outside, it smells so fresh and clean now,
You seem to know things will be ok somehow.
