ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers first baseman Mitch Moreland is considering a procedure on his ailing left ankle that could get him back on the field two
months earlier than originally planned.

remove a bone in the back of the ankle rather than reconstructive surgery that
would sideline him for three months. The shorter timetable is three to four
weeks. Moreland said Sunday he could no longer play through pain hes been
dealing with all season. He became the everyday first baseman when
Prince Fielder decided on neck surgery that ended his season. Rookie second
baseman Rougned Odour, who sprained his right shoulder Sunday against Cleveland,
is available off the bench after an MRI didnt reveal extensive damage.

win over the Goldeyes. It was Winnipegs second straight loss and it dropped the
Fish to 34-16 on the season. It also gave the Explorers a series win in this
three-game set in downtown Winnipeg after winning 2-1 on Tuesday night. “They
beat us the last two days,” said Goldeyes manager Rick Forney. “The two pitchers
they have at the top of their rotation, (Patrick) Johnson and (John) Straka are
as good as any two pitchers in the league. They got ahead in counts and didnt
give us anything to hit. They were both very good the past two days. “We couldnt
really get more aggressive against them because as good as they are, when you
get overly-aggressive, it often makes for five- or six-pitch innings and that
way, you dont get into their bullpen. But then againn, the guys in that bullpen
have been very good the past two nights as well.

(5-0, 3.88 ERA) will get the start for Winnipeg, while Greg Holt (2-7, 5.52 ERA)
will take to the hill for Sioux City.
