sixth inning and won his fourth straight decision, leading Detroit over the
Kansas City Royals 9-4 Sunday and extending the Tigers winning streak to a
season-high five games. Billy Butler singled to right on a 1-2 pitch with two
outs in the sixth, leaving him with a .432 career average in 74 at-bats against
the Detroit ace. Verlander (4-1) allowed three runs, four hits and four walks in
seven innings with seven strikeouts. Jarrod Dyson hit a two-run triple in the
seventh and scored on a sacrifice fly by Nori Aoki, who walked his first three
times up. Verlander pitched no-hitters against Milwaukee in June 2007 and versus
Toronto in May 2011. He improved to 17-5 against the Royals, the best winning
percentage (.773) among active pitchers with 10 decisions or more.
Nick Castellanos and Alex Avila homered for the Tigers, who had 16 hits, and
Torii Hunter had three hits and three RBIs, extending his hitting streak to 11
games. Rajai Davis and Andrew Romine also had three hits each. Davis raised his
average to .337, scored three runs and stole two bases, raising his total to 11.
Detroit is 5-0 against the Royals this year and has won seven of eight overall.
Kansas City, outscored 26-8 in the series, is 0-4 this month after going 8-20
last May. Jason Vargas (2-1) gave up seven runs and 11 hits in five innings --
hes allowed 12 runs and 21 hits over 11 1-3 innings in his last two starts.

CFL title contest.But the biggest adjustment for Tasker was dealing with the
unlimited motion.The big thing is not only being able to time it up (hitting
line of scrimmage when ball is snapped) but also making sure you use it to your
advantage, Tasker said. The field is bigger but sometimes you dont feel that
extra space because of the extra man so the second thing for me was recognizing
the defences because they look different up here regarding the contours of the
defensive secondary.But in Hamilton Tasker was reunited with head coach Kent
Austin and offensive co-ordinator Tommy Condell, who were Taskers head coach and
receivers coach, respectively, at Cornell. Tasker quickly became familiar with
the Ticats offence because they were using much of the same terminology he had
in university.That was really a huge help, he said.This season, Tasker has
developed a nice chemistry with new Ticats starter Zach Collaros, whose arrival
in the off-season made veteran Henry Burris expendable.Zach is very good in
practice at geetting what he wants from us so come gametime he knows were
running exactly what he told us to, Tasker said.

that.Despite a dismal start, Hamilton controls its playoff destiny heading into

nine-team league is exciting, Tasker said. Im from Buffalo and it reminds me of

NFL or college football. The second half of the CFL season, I think, is one of
the best in sports.Finishing first or second in the East would secure Hamilton a

Hortons Field. The Ticats moved into the new facility barely a month ago but it
immediately felt like home after having to play all last years home contests in
Guelph, Ont., and the first three of 2014 at McMaster University.Its nice to
finally be able to walk out of your own locker-room and on to your own field and
not feel like every game was somewhat of an away game, Tasker said. Its clear
Tim Hortons Field isnt an easy place to come into and win.Its a pretty cool
thing to be part of because weve only had three games there but its kind of
already getting a reputation.
