Fresh off a comfortable three-set triumph over host team Malaysia on Thursday, the Filipinas return to action in the Southeast Asian Games against Vietnam at Hall 11 in MiTEC on Friday afternoon.
Vietnam has the benefit of a day's rest, having crushed Malaysia, 25-17, 25-7, 25-11 on Wednesday. The Philippines, meanwhile, overpowered the hosts 25-18, 25-11, 25-16 on Thursday afternoon in front of an appreciative crowd.

Last August 14, the Filipinas booked a tremendous 27-25, 26-24, 17-25, 25-23 upset of Vietnam for their most impressive performance of the AVC tournament.
That victory, which saw superb performances from Alyssa Valdez, Jaja Santiago, and Dawn Macandili, is a huge boost to the Filipinas, but team captain Mika Reyes warns that they cannot afford to be complacent against Vietnam.
"Magandang motivation 'yun for us," Reyes said of their win earlier this month.
" 'Yung kumpyansa, andoon, pati 'yung mindset na kaya namin silang matalo," she explained. "Pero andoon pa rin dapat 'yunghindi complacent na matatalo namin sila ulit."
"Kailangan pa rin paghirapan, kasi dikdikan 'yung score that time," Reyes pointed out.
While he anticipates that Vietnam will make adjustments, Vicente warns that

The Filipinas' straight-sets romp over a hapless Malaysia squad ensured that they will advance to the semifinals of the women's volleyball tournament for the first time since the 2005 Southeast Asian Games, which was held in the Philippines.

Vicente is expecting an even better performance from his wards after shaking off some first-game jitters against the host team. The Philippines gave up three straight aces to open the game before eventually getting their rhythm on both ends.
" 'Yung kaba, and'yan naman lagi 'yan, 'yung nervousness," said Vicente. "Ang importante, they should overcome the nervousness."
"We'll work hard for tomorrow's game, para maging No. 1 tayo sa group natin," he added.
A win over Vietnam Friday will allow the Philippines to avoid powerhouse
Thailand in the semifinals, scheduled for Saturday.
