FRISCO - Cowboys linebacker Anthony Hitchens fully participated in practice Wednesday and could return from a tibial

Dallas feared the worst when Hitchens suffered the injury late in the final preseason game against the Oakland Raiders on Aug. 26, but the news got progressively better. No, it wasn't a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Then, the original eight-week timeline for recovery even improved after further evaluation and Hitchens undergoing a scope. Hitchens practiced on a limited basis last week.
"I didn't know what the circumstances were," Hitchens said, "just glad it's been five weeks now instead of the full season. It went from a full fracture to just a hairline fracture. [The doctor] said everyone heals different. Mine just heals fast, so I'm just blessed to be out there running around right now."
Hitchens said the team would watch tape of his practice Wednesday to help judge if he can play against the Packers.
Hitchens didn't miss a game in the first three seasons of his career. He entered his fourth season as the starting middle linebacker. If he can go Sunday, the timing will be beneficial to the Cowboys, who were without weakside linebacker Sean Lee (hamstring) in last week's loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Dallas is hoping Lee can return

Jaylon Smith, coming off a severe knee injury and playing his first NFL season, was forced into more action because of the injuries.
