Cinemas to get Bollywood permission in three months

LAHORE: Federal Additional Secretary for Culture Zafar Ahmed said on Tuesday that Pakistani cinemas were likely to be given permission to screen Indian films in three months.
“A summary about the screening of Indian films in Pakistan is to be sent to the cabinet within a couple of days with comments from four different ministries,” Mr Ahmed told journalists at a seminar. He said the Culture Ministry had prepared a favourable summary and sent it for comments to the information, foreign affairs and interior ministries.
Mr Ahmed said the demands of the cinemas owners would be met if they upgraded facilities and security at their theatres. He said the Indian films would be subject to censorship.
Pakistani cinemas have spent a long time trying to convince the government that screening Indian movies is the only solution to the low audiences at cinemas. They have threatened to close down cinemas over the unavailability of Pakistani films. Quite a few cinemas have already been closed and several have been converted into theatres.

im not afraid of quality sh*t product, i just dnt want our audience to see anti- pak, anti islam films which teach people about hindus and always have the heros as hindus and villains as muslims and i dnt want them to fool our audience by showing countrys like uk and usa and saying its india while they show afganistan and iraq as pakistan.

u know pakistan is not gona show anti-pak/islam movies but they will show movies like main hoon na or hum tum n in that case this news is a good news...

Shaby is right; why must we show Indoostani Films?
I mean look people; when we show there films, it's basically telling our people we suck. Even though the people know it already, the Government shouldn't support it and admit to it. That brings down moral and at a times like this who would want too? A booming economy, people are getting jobs, literacy among women is increasing and best of all Jinnah The Movie is releasing on DVD in the UK.
What about our country? We're basically selling ourselves out! Why must we? They laugh at us thinking we worship them. Is that the kind of image you want? What about our soverignty? What good will this do? It will basically tell people in Pakistan oh who cares we're all the same. No we're not the same; I'm a Pakistani and a guy living in Dehli is an Indian. We're not the same; again we're selling ourselves out.
Worse though what about the children that watch that crap; they will grow up thinking Pakistan can't do anything. What will that do to there development as they grow? These aren't stupid question's by any strech; every country talks about the things I have just mentioned. We have banned there TV Channels and I say we should ban there films. There isn't a point; people will say there will be compeition? Huh yeah right; they'll be so brainwashed into watching that garbage, they won't even bother with the Pakistani films.
That's why I get so mad when people say "so what?". There are a lot of reason's why there films shouldn't be shown here and I've only introduced a few main concerns. People wake up! You talk about Cinema Owners loosing money; that's a filthy excuse just to get them to show there films and it's a flat out lie! They've been loosing money because of cable nothing else; why bother going to the cinema when you have cable.
People please wake up and look at the bigger picture. This isn't doing us or our younger/upcoming generation any good.

How am I creating a mess; if your going to show garbage films in our country your gonna have some who agree and some who don't. You should allow for a wide spectrum of opinions, not the ones of only 5% of the population who bother with these hollywood rip offs.
Those are prefectly legitimate questions I have asked; too my surprise nobody responded which proves just how much of a bad idea it is to show there trash in our country.

Damn man every Paki Child already watches every Indian movie ever made lol. So forget that point.Hmm every home have indian TV channels also. so what r u talking about.ANd no kid doesnt even bothers about Paki movies any ways.
SO either they should BAN the indian movies on the Video/Cds etc or else let that cinema owners show it because morality isnt the issue here nay more.

Ok and are you in Pakistan by any chance? What do you define as a booming economy? Any country which achives the 4th highest growth rate in all of Asia is damn well booming in my opinion, not to mention the 13% Industrial Growth Rate. It's so amazing how little Pakistanis abroad know about Pakistan; did you know we have a Antarctic Research Station? Did you know we have 2 sattilites in space?

Well I said i sort of agree. Well If people are making money out of renting out every indian movie every made from Video shops , so then why not let the cinema owners make some legal money and after all they have spent so much on making those cinemas in the first place. So BAN the VIdeo thing else lollywood will die any way some day. Cinemas changing in to shopping centers , Plazas and theaters is too common even to say that ow. Any ways for the Economy hmm all the people i know in Pakistan have been struggling as ever as they were before. If our so called economy and industrial growth is so damn good then why isnt any thing passed to the common man?? or all the growth is just for the few?
I really didnt knew that we have 2 satellites in Space. because the first one burned and fell off the orbit.
