Versatile artiste of stage, TV, radio and film, Irfan Khoosat's first film as writer, Nagri Data Di is all set to be released on August 6 (Friday). This film has been produced by Fayyaz Khan and directed by Madam Sangeeta.
According to Fayyaz Khan, Nagri Data Di will be his last film as a producer. Earlier, he porduced films like Soldier, Behram Daku, Beti, Phoolan Devi, Cheeta, Bala Gaddi, Wehshi Dogar, Direct Hawaldar, Dubai Chalo, Sangsar, Rishta Kaghaz Ka, and Jee Dar. Fayyaz Khan is also the Vice Chairman of Pakistan Distribution Association and the Vice Chairman of Pakistan Films Producers Association.
Fayyaz Khan said that he chose Irfan Khoosat as the writer because he understood the problems of people living in the interior city of Lahore, "Irfan is a wonderful person, a very committed person, and he has full command over the medium of the big screen. I am completely satisfied with his work."
He further said, "Nagri Data Di is my last hope of survival in the film industry, because film making is no more a profitable business."
He made a mention of Beti which "was a big flop. It left me bankrupt, even though Syed Noor (his director for the film) and Saima had not charged a single penny."
He said that now he had made a promise with God that whether Nagri Data Di proved to be a blockbuster or not, he would not make any more films in the future. He will only run his distribution office.
Talking about Nagri Data Di, Fayyaz said that it was a story of a tussle between good and evil.
The lead cast of the film includes Shan, Saima, Babar Ali, Laila, Masood Akhtar, Shafqat Cheema and Irfan Khoosat himself. Fayyaz said that Shan was playing a very different role in the film, "I bet he will look different from his earlier Punjabi films. He plays the son of a poor Imam Masjid.
Since the film is set in the interior city of Lahore, he said that he had shot only on original locations, so that they could look real. Besides, he said, Prof. Aqeel Ruby has penned very meaningful lyrics in the context of the interior city. The music of the film is composed by Taffo and Zulfiqar Ali.
Fayyaz claimed that there would not be even a single vulgar shot in the film, especially since this film is dedicated to the name of Hazrat Data Sahib.
