The first educational board which was established in Pakistan was the Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education Lahore. Lahore Board was formed in 1954. Before the establishment of BISE Lahore, Punjab University was taking the matric and intermediate exams. Initially, Lahore Board was given the task to conduct SSC and HSSC exams for the Punjab, Balochistan, AJK and Northren Areas but now the Board organizes the exams for the districts of Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Nankana Sahib. All the public and private schools and colleges in these districts are affiliated with BISE Lahore. Lahore Board is located at Mozang Road, Lahore. Lahore Board starts admissions of the matric and intermediate classes to the affiliate schools and colleges before the start of the academic year. The academic year of SSC and HSSC starts in the months of March and September respectively. All the schools and colleges affiliated with BISE Lahore starts the admissions couple of months before the start of the academic year and completes within time. Lahore Board publishes model papers every year for the students so that they can know about the updates paper pattern and new syllabus adopted by the board. These model papers are very helpful for the students to get excellent marks in the exams. Apart from that, the students can also get past papers of Lahore Board from the market and other sources. These past papers are very helpful for the students in their exams as they can know about the important questions which are expected to come in the exams. Lahore Board conducts the exams of matric and intermediate classes according to a regular schedule. The SSC exams are held in March and April while HSSC annual exams are conducted by the board in May and June. Date sheets and roll number slips are issued by BISE Lahore according to the schedule of the exams. Date sheets are usually issued two months before the start of the exams while roll number slips are sent to the addresses of the students about one month before the start of the exams. 9th and 10th class annual exams are organized by BISE Lahore in March while 11th and 12th class annual exams are held during the months of May and June. Lahore Board announces the results of matric and intermediate classes after two or three months of the exams. These results are displayed at the official site of the board and the board also posts the results at the addresses of the students.
