MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee’s Brent Suter will not start as scheduled Saturday when the Brewers continue their four-game series with the Atlanta Braves at Miller
The left-hander was placed on the 10-day disabled list Friday with a strained left forearm Johnny Gaudreau Jersey Kids
, an issue he first reported after his last outing when he gave up five runs over five innings against the Reds on
Suter worked with the team’s medical staff over the last week but the issue didn’t resolve itself as they had hoped, so the decision was made to give the
28-year-old a break.
“We saw the doc and he was like, ‘Let’s just skip a start,'” Suter said. “It’s disappointing, for sure, but I’ll try to come back stronger. Our team is
gelling so well right now that you want to be a part of it.”
Though forearm strains are often a precursor to significantly more serious issues, manager Craig Counsell was confident that the move was more
precautionary than anything else and that Suter’s absence would be brief.
“You’re always cautious when a pitcher has a forearm injury, but at this point it’s a minor injury,” Counsell said. “I think it’s important we don’t let
it become something big. That’s why we’re putting him on the DL.”
In 18 appearances this season, including a pair of relief outings, Suter is 8-5 with a 4.53 ERA. He allowed nine runs over his last two starts but was on a
roll before that, going 6-1 with a 3.12 ERA in seven starts from May 18 to June
“I was trying my best not to miss a start all year,” Suter said. “That was my No. 1 goal coming into the season, so it’s disappointing that way. But I’ve got
to listen to the docs. They know what they’re talking about.”
With Suter out, the Brewers plan to recall right-hander Aaron Wilkerson from Triple-A Colorado Springs Saturday morning and send him to the mound Saturday
Wilkerson, 29 Cory Schneider Jersey
, reported to spring training with a chance at cracking Milwaukee’s Opening Day rotation but was optioned to Colorado Springs,
where he was 2-2 with a 2.08 ERA in eight appearances, including seven starts,
after opening the season on the disabled list.
Wilkerson was called up last weekend and worked three innings of relief against the Reds on Sunday, giving up five runs and taking the loss in his only
major league appearance of the season. He was sent back to Colorado Springs the
next day when the team promoted infielder Nate Orf.
“He’s on line and he’s ready to go,” Counsell said of Wilkerson, who will be starting in the big leagues for the first time since since the 2017 season
finale, when he held the Cardinals to a run on two hits over seven innings,
striking out five.
While Wilkerson gets his first start of the year, Braves right-hander Anibal Sanchez takes the ball for the 10th time in what’s been a pleasantly surprising
The veteran right-hander brings a 3-2 record and sparking 2.89 ERA into the contest and went 2-2 with a 2.48 mark in five June starts. His last outing in
June was cut short by a sore calf, but he took his next turn on schedule,
allowing three runs over six innings against the Yankees on Monday.
“Every day that I come here, I feel a blessing,” Sanchez told the Atlanta Journal Constitution before that outing. “I feel blessed to be here because I
know how tough the offseason was for most of the players my age. I signed with
the Twins, got released, got an opportunity here with another team that I liked.
To be able to be in that position right now Darren Helm Jersey
, with a team whose expectation was different than where we are right now.
“Now, for me, every outing is a challenge. I want to pitch for the team. I want to win for the team. I want to keep the team in first place. I want to be
able to be healthy the rest of the season and help the team the most that I can
and make the playoffs.”
Sanchez is 2-2 with a 6.37 ERA in eight career starts against the Brewers, but he has not faced them since 2015.
Prior to their loss Friday night, the Braves were the only team in baseball to lose no more than three games in a row this season. Their four-game losing
streak is the longest since dropping six in a row September 25-30 of last
LeBron James looked at the clock and scoreboard and didn’t flinch. It was time to fix things. His time. Closing time.
”He gets that look,” Cavaliers forward Kyle Korver said.
James scored 13 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter and rallied Cleveland from a 17-point deficit to stun the Washington Wizards 119-115 on Thursday night
to maintain the No. 3 playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Cavs trailed 104-87 with 7:35 left before storming back behind James, who added 14 assists, nine rebounds and made sure coach Tyronn Lue got a win in his
return after missing nine games due to health reasons.
Cleveland was down 14 when James checked in with 7:48 left, and 13 seconds later, the deficit swelled to 17 when the three-time champion took off on one of
those runs that have made him famous.
”I don’t have a quit bone in me, so if I’m on the floor I’ve got to try to make plays happen no matter what the score is,” he said. ”That’s just my
Jeff Green added 21 points and Kevin Love had 16 for the Cavs, who are 10-1 since March 17, when Lue was forced to leave a game in Chicago with ”piercing”
chest pains. Lue, who has changed his diet and is taking sleep medication, has
come back to a Cleveland team that seems to be hitting its stride just in time
for the playoffs.
But it took another of those patented James’ comebacks to down the Wizards Authentic Stephen Johns Jersey
, who have dropped seven of nine and are in a three-way battle with Milwaukee and Miami for playoff positioning.
Wizards coach Scott Brooks said he feared James would do exactly what he did.
”Like I said before the game, I’ll say it after the game and probably five years from now I’ll say the same thing,” he said. ”He’s the best player in the
league and he does that every night. You don’t get to see players like him
Washington’s John Wall looked more like his speedy All-Star self in his third game back from knee surgery, scoring 28 points with 14 assists. But he had a
costly turnover in the closing seconds and the Wizards couldn’t put away the
Cavs down the stretch.
Bradley Beal added 19 points, and Otto Porter had 18 for Washington.
A basket by Markieff Morris gave the Wizards a 110-100 lead with 3:16 left, but James scored six straight, fed Green for layup, and Rodney Hood made two
free throws to complete a 10-0 run by the Cavs. Morris then converted a
three-point play, but Cleveland’s Kyle Korver knocked down a 3 in front of
Washington’s bench – from nearly the same spot where he missed a big 3 in Game 3
of last year’s Finals.
”Yeah I was wide open and the ball was in the perfect pocket,” Korver said. ”I got to line it up and shoot it.”
Green’s two free throws – on a tough call against Wall, who appeared to make a clean steal – gave the Cavs a 116-115 lead, but after Walls missed a short
jumper, James split a pair of three throws, giving Washington one last
Wall drove the lane but instead of going to the basket, he attempted a twisting pass outside that was stolen by rookie Cedi Osman, who made two free
throws to close it out.
”I already knew on the play before that I wasn’t going to get the call Authentic Alexander Wennberg Jersey
, so why even put myself in that position?” Wall said. ”I tried to find a teammate for a wide open shot. You just
give that guy credit for making a great defensive stop.”
The Wizards remained in the No. 7 spot, sandwiched between the Heat and Bucks, who lost at home to Brooklyn.
Lue came back to a familiar situation as the Cavs, who have endured injuries for months, were missing point guards Jose Calderon (hamstring) and George Hill
Wizards: Brooks said Wall will not play Friday night. He’s yet to play consecutive game since returning. … Wall lost weight during his recovery, and
coach Scott Brooks said that should help the All-Star going forward. ”It’s going
to be good for his long-term recovery,” Brooks said. ”It’s good for him. It’s
good for us. He just needs to gets some reps.”
Cavaliers: Won their eighth straight at home. … James has scored 30 points in 429 games, tying Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for fifth place in league history. … Osman
is the seventh different starting point guard for Cleveland, which because of

Kyrie Irving will miss the playoffs. Irving had a great run with Cleveland and
will be forever remembered for his go-ahead 3-pointer in the closing minutes of
Game 7 in the 2016 Finals. ”He was a big part of what we did here, a big part of
winning the championship and even though he’s on another team you still don’t
want to see anyone go through that,” Lue said.
