if you'r confident in yourself, then, no doubt, that's a really positive thing. many people lack self esteem, and developing love for yourself, and confidence in YOURSELF can be really hard for some people. I mean from my personal experience, it's taken me quite while to like myself for the way i am, and to be quite honest, i'm still working at it
but yea i definitely think that having over-confidence to the point where it's considered to be just conceited is with a doubt harmful. If something really wrong happened to someope then it could completely shatter that person's ego and make them lose all the confidence they ever had in themselves. It could possibly lead to the point where that person might not have any self esteem or confidence to trust themselves to do anything for a long time.
BUT, i do not find having confidence in yourself a downfall at all.
