Ajab brings new talent in film
by EMANUEL SARFRAZ

Lollywood is passing through difficult times when few movies are being made and there is an element of uncertainty prevailing in the industry. Ajab Gul is one of few directors who have faith that good old days of our film industry will return. His next film 'Kyon tum say itna pyar hai' is in postproduction these days and may be released next month. To lure the movie lovers back to cinema halls he is presenting a number of fresh new faces in his flick.
Besides the experienced actors like Ajab himself, Talat Hussain and Nadeem Baig the cast of the film includes newcomers Babrak Shah, Priya, Naveed Dar, Bobby, Azra Aftaba and models Ameisha and Fiza. Classical dancer Nighat Chaudhry, who has acted in some television plays in the past, is making her debut on the silver screen. She is playing the role of mother in the film. Talented theatre artiste Tahira Wasti too is making her debut in Lollywood by acting in Ajab's movie. The other members of the cast are Veena Malik, Arabaz Khan and Asif Khan.
Ajab's movies have a question as a title. This is second film project as a director after the success of debut film 'Khoay ho tum kahan'. And the question title always hints that the movie is going to have a lot of suspense. This time around too Ajab will be presenting a suspense flick but with the added elements of thrill and action. While talking to The Nation Plus Ajab said that it was no formula film and he has not compromised on anything due to which the budget has spiralled to nearly Rs 50 million. Saqib Khan is the producer of the film. "Taking up a film project while there is a crisis in the industry was a challenging task and I have done my best to present a quality feature film. The music of the movie will appeal to the people. I myself have composed the songs and also provided the background music. We have only used the voice talent of India. The music recording was done here in Pakistan but the mixing was done in Mumbai," he explained.
Except for two songs by Pakistani singer Shaz Ali the rest of the playback singers are all of Bollywood. Songs of Udit Narayan, Sadhana Sargam, Suneidi Chohan, Nehra Joshi, Kalpana, Maya Ramdin and Shria Ghosal (of Dev Das fame) feature in the film.
Ajab himself has written the script, dialogues and screen play. He says he is going to use some new special sound and visual effects in the film. He is in Bangkok in connection with the final postproduction work. He is expected to return in a couple of days.
