The federal government has eased state-wide restrictions on corona viruse after a decline in infections. The decision was made during Wednesday’s National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) meeting.
According to the decision, there is no time limit for commercial activities, as well as for amusement parks. In addition, the requirement for public and private offices to enforce a 50 percent work-from-home policy for employees was immediately lifted.
NCOC also intends to allow indoor dining, movie theaters, and shrine openings from March 15. However, a final decision will be made at the March 10th meeting.
The government was also allowed to hold local bodies and Cantt board elections until late May or early June.
In addition, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been allowed to increase attendance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) from 20 percent for pool games to 50 percent, while allowing full participation for play-offs under strict COVID SOPs.
Pakistan has seen two lockdowns since the virus first emerged in February last year. Due to the lack of the COVID-19 vaccine, health experts resorted to intense precautionary measures to contain the spread.
With the vaccine now available internationally, the NCOC has launched a comprehensive plan to deliver the vaccine for Corona nationwide. The first phase is already in the process of delivering vaccines to the frontline health workers.
People over 60 years of age will be vaccinated in the second phase, which starts next month.
