Some cruise lines are selling summer sailings exclusively to vaccinated travelers — and tickets are going fast.
Luxury cruise line Crystal Cruises just had its biggest single day of bookings in the company’s 30-year history. It was the first 24 hours of open reservations for its new seven-day Bahamas sailings aboard the 980-passenger Crystal Serenity.
“We are thrilled by the wonderful response to these new sailings. It’s clear that travelers have been eagerly looking forward to exploring again and are as excited to see Crystal Serenity return to sailing as we are,” said Jack Anderson, Crystal’s interim president and CEO.
Eighty percent of the butler-serviced Crystal Penthouses – the ship’s biggest suites — are already reserved for the entire Bahamas season, which debuts July 3 and runs through October. Crystal is requiring passengers to be fully vaccinated.
It certainly appears that cruise fans are on board with vaccination requirements. In a recent survey of nearly 3,000 Cruise Critic readers, 84% of respondents said they would cruise if getting vaccinated was a requirement. “And anecdotally, we’re hearing from a number of cruisers that it’s the only way they’d feel comfortable returning at this time,” said Colleen McDaniel, the outlet’s editor in chief.
Here are four more cruise lines that will soon resume sailing — and only with passengers who are fully vaccinated.
