Islamabad: Pakistan cricket star Yousuf Youhana, who was the only Christian in the team, has converted to Islam.

"The conversion took place with members of a 'tableeghi jamaat' present with him in Mecca where he and his family said the Kalma and later performed Umra," a cricketer was quoted as saying by 'The News' on Saturday. "Youhana and his family have also been issued certificates in the holy place confirming their Muslim status which allowed them to perform Umra," he said.

Youhana had started taking interest in Islamic teachings some years ago when he moved around with the Pakistan team and saw them praying and preaching. "The truth is Youhana had tried to take the decision to become a Muslim some years back but facing lot of opposition and emotional blackmail from his wife, parents and other relatives, he stalled the inevitable.

He then convinced his wife and children of the need to become Muslims and some players had also played a key role in this process," the report said. "It is also true that two players of the Pakistan team played a key role in helping him take the decision which was first opposed but then supported by his wife."

The source said Youhana had already enrolled his children in a school with Islamic leanings after discontinuing their education in a modern, private school.

Today i read a news in which a 20 Year Hindu girl parents accused that their daughter has embraced islam under pressure and some ppl are threatening her in case she return back to Hinduism.

If it is true then making muslim on gun point is too alarming

What's wrong with us
We should rather be happy for someone who accepted the vastness of Islam and chose the path of eternal salvation. have we lost the pride in our religion and have forgotten the primary job of taking the truth to people? Youhana didn't convert to Islam by force. If any form of Islam has influence on any institution, it bothers Muslims Is it not mind-boggling that any non-Islamic influence on any institution doesn't bother us?

TT, I have been following the story in papers. The girl gave a statement in the court of her own will and accord and her consent to accept islam and marrying a muslim. There was no gun pointed or threats posed to her. there are possibilities of ignorant people pressuring her of dire consequences of any retractions.

Remember, forceful conversions to Christianity in sub-continent, Asia, and Africa. Where christianity was spread, taking advantage of human sufferings. When bibles and crosses were given before food.

May Allah open our eyes and our hearts to see and feel the sweetness of eman. Ameen
