Questing in an MMO is the most basic way of making an income. New World's quests range from:
Side quests
Town projects
Faction quests
All of these quests give about the same coins and experience, so choose either that you prefer. Using this as your only means of coins income would be inefficient. Instead, use questing as a guide for zones to farm in so that you can complete missions while gathering resources.
With all things, it comes down to efficiency. Complete quests while farming resources is the best way to make New World coins fast.
Gathering Resources
The world of Aethernum is full of different gathering nodes. You can collect resources like lumber, stone, steel, or something more expensive and sell it to other players. If you have a lot of resources you may make some decent money, especially if the resources you offer are not so easy to find. Players always need different materials for crafting.
Resources gathering comes in tiers, for example:
Low Tier Resources – Easily found and cheap on the marketplace. Things like low-level gear pieces or low-level resources will be in abundance.
Mid Tier Resources – This tier of resources is usually higher level than the previous tier. Things like higher-level armor pieces or resources will sell for a fair price on the marketplace.
Rare Tier Resources – This requires your character to be high level. Not just high level but also have skill levels with your crafting. Selling these items will be much more profitable.
The local economy is subject to constant change, so to make as many coins as possible, frequently check the prices for resources at trading posts and then note down which resources go for the most.
Marketplace
Traditionally, MMO RPGs have marketplaces or auction houses. Using these marketplaces generates large amounts of coins in New World for those who know how to play them.
Buy and sell runes of holding
While the faction missions themselves don't reward you with a lot of coins, you gain a sizeable amount of tokens after completing each one. When you've saved up enough tokens, click on the Buy Rewards button while speaking to your New World faction leader to bring up the rewards shop.
Inside, you'll find many weapons and armour, but that's not what makes the most money. The most valuable items are the Runes of Holding that require both tokens and coins to buy. You can use these runes to make better bags. To get better quality runes, you need to increase your rank in your faction by completing faction quests:
Minor Rune of Holding – Adept
Major Rune of Holding – Scrivener
Greater Rune of Holding – Chronicler
Grand Rune of Holding – Cabalist
While the overall selling price of these items fluctuates between towns and even servers, we've found several sources putting the Minor Rune of Holding's market value at roughly 500 coins during the beta. This is double the amount of coin that you spend on buying it in the first place. The idea is to buy Minor Rune of Holdings, put them up for sale in the trading posts, and then accept some faction missions while you wait for the runes to sell. Runes of Holding at higher faction ranks sell for far more coins but require more time to earn faction tokens.
Crafting
Crafting is a very difficult way of making money at the early stages. Leveling up crafting a profession requires resources and you will hardly be able to sell something at a good price when your crafting skill is low. But the more you advance the better items you can make. Top crafters may earn a lot of gold.
Crafting is the late-game way of making money. Leveling your crafting skill takes a long time but, it's worth it in the long run.
