I know, the couple in Fifty Shades of Grey is technically a married couple, but I’m talking about books where sex between married couples is
implied and perhaps even described, but tastefully.

Furthermore, would it be a sin for a married person as well as a single person to read such a thing?

Reason I’m asking is because one of my favorite authors, Dean Koontz,
who is a conservative Catholic, sometimes has sex scenes between married
couples in his novels. They seem to be quite tame and nondescript to
me, but still.

I  don't think it's bad, and you shouldn't feel weird about it. Everyone reads whatever they want to read. For example, a few years ago, I was extremely depressed after losing a good friend. The only thing that helped me feel better was reading soapy dramas that I have never been a fan of in my life. I used to read classics, and I was a huge book freak all my life. But, somehow, those terrible books were the only ones that helped. I talked to my therapist at http://counsellinginmelbourne.com.au/everything-you-need-to-know-about-relationship-counselling about it, and he told me it's normal. It's like a coping mechanism.
