We can tell you from first-hand experience… The Royal’s karaoke room is excellent. Decked out with velvet couches, record covers and a disco ball-esque chandelier, its retro vibes set the tone for an evening of belting out the classics. We’re still recovering from our visit, but rest assured – we’ll be back.
Ferrara Bar on Queen Street has been around for almost 30 years, so it’s safe to say they know what they’re doing. Tuesdays feature drinks at industry prices, while Thursday is Musical Theatre Night. The only thing is, no private booths. So make sure you’ve got your performance hat on (or a couple of shots under your belt), and dress up to impress.
Smack bang in the middle of Chinatown, Crown has an awesome menu of share dishes to keep you energised, and is fully licensed (although BYO wine is permitted). Private rooms start at minimum $250 spend, which ends up being peanuts if you roll through with a big crew. The Crown team are also in charge of Hit Studio just around the corner, offering different packages depending on your party.
Another Northbridge fave, Galaxy Lounge offers a wide variety of the latest popular hip hop and R&B tracks from artists like Cardi B and Post Malone (who actually spent a night there earlier this year). They also offer a pretty well-priced food selection, and the luxe fit-out will make you feel like a popstar.
If you like your karaoke no muss, no fuss style, KARA on Lake Street is a winner. Opens early and stays so til very late, the relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff make for an easy-going night to belt out your fave oldies, with a few new ones sprinkled throughout.
You probably know Prince Lane’s various areas – The Public Bar, Glamour Bar and Rooftop, but they’ve also got a specially serviced Karaoke Suite upstairs. They have a minimum spend of $600, but it’s a huge room that can cater up to 38 people, so the more the merrier (and cheaper!).
If you’re not content with a night of bowling or mini golf at Strike’s Carousel home, you can always duck into one of their private karaoke rooms. Drinks are delivered to your room, which along with a top shelf audio/visual system is also kitted out with costumes and props for photo opps.
