Yoyo what did the report say about Saqib Malik's film.

Also last week on Geo there was a news item regarding an exhibition of Pakistani films in the UK. Did you catch that. I just saw the headline.

by the name of the film my guess is the story would be about village boy ali zafar who moves to lahore.

Ali Zafar keeps bouncing back into the news, over and over again and whenever things are quiet, he re–enters with a big bang. While he keeps his fans eagerly awaiting for his new album (an unplugged version of a new song from it is out and playing on local music channels), Ali has signed up for director Saqib Malik's upcoming movie, Ajnabi Shehr Mein. The pop star is going to act opposite model Tooba Siddiqui. Ali was also Shoaib Mansoor's choice for his debut movie, Khuda Key Liye but he pulled out from it as he was unable to give time to this venture. Let's hope this venture goes through smoothly. Ad and music video directors are taking up the challenge of reviving cinema in Pakistan. Directors like Shoaib Mansoor, Saqib Malik, Jami and Asim Raza are all ready and they will soon start shooting. Lollywood is dying a slow death and as the formula movies are not attracting audience anymore, it would be exciting to see these new directors contributing to a possible revival. Now what could be better than cashing in on the music stars while the music industry is doing so well!

but I am afraid...do they know about film screenplay,duration,cinima atmosphere..well it's very important when they are making the film.
why our new people from tv are making a drama in film..although every everybody is watching indian movie in their houses..but they are playing a drama..and saying ..this is a family movie..stupidness!

I think every director must learn with new academy NAPA in karachi or SYED NOOR academy in Lahore..it's very important.

This is not enough they should atleast have a bachelors degree with a major in Film/Video. I guess thats the most important thing that they need Proper education in that area.

well most of them know the techniques as the top ones have been to film making schools in the us/uk.

what they need is experience and they will only get that by assisting top directors or by attempting a few films themselves, unfortunatly pakistan doesnt have many good experienced directors who you can assist so they have to go straight into making a film.

another option would be for them to go to india and assit some directors there which could help is well.

yea.. u r right...in india every new director assists
senior director and then start the movie....
Farah khan who is basically a dance director..but she has directed and blockbustur movie 'Main hon na'.
similarly 'Muna bhai MBBS'..

In the 70s and 80s when more films were made and you had a large pool of directors then new directors did assist.

Javed Fazil who is currently the best director on TV and a very successful film director used to assist S.Suleman. Syed Noor before becoming a writer in the late 1970s also assisted S.Suleman at one time.

Most of our actors and actersses who have taken up direction is basically from their experience in working in films.

Its basically the TV directors who have come in to films have struggled the most and they need training.

Currently Rukhsana Noor is in the US and is completing her course in Direction.

We need filmaking to be taught at more colleges and Universities and need a international standard film academy.

We do have the talent but what about learning the basics.

good way to gain experience is by directing short films and telefilms.

we allready have people who have made superb telefilms and shirt films with so low budgets, we need some of them to come and make films.
