Dow polyurethane binder used in Olympic museum track

The museum track and surrounding flooring features Kraiburg's Sportec Uni material, which includes Dow's Voramer polyurethane binder solutions, according to a Dow news release.
The same technology, Dow noted, was used in the Olympic Stadium running track for London's 2012 games.
"When the International Olympic Committee needed a solution developed for the Olympic Museum, we were excited to engage our customer, Kraiburg Relastec, to join us on this mission," Mohammed Sami, Dow's industrial segment marketing leader for EMEAI, said in a statement. "We've worked together on a flooring solution with comfort and design perfectly suited to help meet the needs of the museum's interactive exhibit."
Made of EPDM rubber, Voramer is an impact-absorbing material that is designed to provide comfort and safety, reducing the risk of injury to athletes. The material also demonstrates sustainability—making use of more than 90 percent recycled rubber materials—and durability by expanding the life of running tracks by at least 10 years, according to Dow.
Voramer is free of volatile solvent toxins and hazardous additives.
Based in Midland, Dow is a Worldwide Olympic Partner, the Official Chemistry Company of the Olympic Games and Official Carbon Partner of the International Olympic Committee. Many of its materials also were used in the design and building of the IOC's Olympic House headquarters set to open in June.
