Ayurveda offers us various natural remedies to help maintain health. This ancient science has in its arsenal mixtures of herbs and plants that work no worse than pharmaceutical drugs. Perhaps you have heard these words in various blogs or in conversations of yoga lovers. There is nothing scary about them, on the contrary, they are excellent helpers for the body, especially during the transitional autumn period.
1) Chyawanprash is probably the most popular product on this list. It is easy to find in Indian grocery stores, it is quite versatile and tastes good.
Chyawanprash is a sweet and spicy dark jam made from amla, honey, ghee and about 35 other herbal ingredients. The recipe is quite an
cient, but today there are many Chyawanprash manufacturers who offer options with different compositions for different purposes. Amla, which occupies a central place in the composition, is a super-powerful antioxidant, one of the most powerful in the world. Amla fruits contain 20 times more vitamin C than orange juice. They also help lower blood sugar and cholesterol, and have many other properties. Amla is found in Chyawanprash in large quantities, which gives reason to take this supplement seriously.
What other useful properties does Chyawanprash have:
stimulates immunity
improves digestion (without side effects)
improves memory
plays an important role in protecting the liver, kidneys and heart from toxic substances (for example, when exposed to medications)
Chyawanprash can be taken by both adults and children, but those who monitor their blood sugar levels should be careful.
Due to the honey and oil content, Chyawanprash is not a vegan product, but you can find brands of this supplement that are free of animal products. Or consider the alternative that will be discussed further - Triphala.
2) Triphala is an Ayurvedic blend of the fruits of three plants – amla, haritaki and bibhitaki. It is considered suitable for all three types of constitution according to Ayurveda – vata, pitta and kapha – and for all ages.
Triphala is mainly used as a super-powerful digestive aid, but the combination of the three plants has many uses. Research has shown that triphala has the potential to be used as an anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, anti-tumor agent, and this is just the beginning.
Useful properties of triphala:
elimination of digestive problems, abdominal pain, high acidity and flatulence.
weight loss and blood sugar reduction
lowering cholesterol, LDL
effective anti-inflammatory agent (on par with standard medication)
rejuvenation (stimulation of collagen and elastin production, reduction of skin hyperpigmentation)
Triphala should not be taken during pregnancy and also, at the initial stage of taking it, one of the side effects may be indigestion.
3) Ashwagandha (Indian ginseng) is an Ayurvedic remedy that reduces fatigue, improves sleep, promotes normal functioning of the nervous system and muscle functions.
Since ashwagandha affects testosterone levels, some sources do not recommend women to take this remedy. It can be considered as a testosterone booster and used by athletes.
Modern medicine uses ashwagandha to normalize hormonal levels in men.
The main beneficial properties of ashwagandha:
normalizes blood sugar levels
tones the body and relieves fatigue
stimulates testosterone production
improves muscle tissue function
reduces cortisol levels
lowers cholesterol levels
is an antidepressant
increases sperm motility in men
can be used for cancer prevention
Ashwagandha is not recommended for women and is prohibited for children under 14 years of age due to its effect on hormones.
When using natural health remedies, there are a few things to remember:
The effect is achieved with long-term use, and you may not see it immediately. Some products work unnoticed as a preventive measure, so you should not expect a miracle effect from them, especially if they are not prescribed by a specialist in a specific course.
Despite this, do not underestimate these products. They should be taken after studying the properties well, in the dosages you need, preferably after consulting a specialist. Carefully study the contraindications before making your list of 10 jars for the next season.
