Teach me to weep for that which is good,
too many tears fall from being so sad.
The darkness of night consumes my soul,
encomposing my dreams that are bad.
The silent scream of midnight terror,
leaves me breathless as I awaken.
My demons return with a vengence,
a broken heart leaves me forsaken.
Devoured by a hand of kindness,
shall I dally within this sorrow?
Is there nothing good left to weep for,
will the sun ever shine tomorrow?
Days are gone when happy eyes cried,
when each day brought my heart a smile.
Too many untruths riddle my heart,
weighing it down with tears and guile.
Love is a word with special meanings,
it hurts so bad when played the fool.
As you say, all is fair in love and war,
and you play by your own set of rules.
