SEHRA KHAREED LAI HAIN
Farhat abbas shah

Description:
This compilation of Farhat Abbas Shah's poems, ghazals & nazms is actually his 4th collection of poems & also the best by far. What's more, this collection boasts of many ghazals that are a match for "Sham Ke Baad" & "Ankhon Kay Paar Chand", his two most popular ghazals to date.

Besides appreciating the poet's fluency, the reader will be also be inspired by Farhat's message- Farhat stands on high moral ground as he attacks despots & writes against cruelty, subjugation & all kinds of attacks on humanity. His message, formulated by his supreme choice of words, fluency of poetry, and high quality lyrics, strikes the heart.

A whole chapter is dedicated to kafis (kafiyan), one of the hardest forms of poetry, yet Farhat looks perfectly adept in "Dil Pagal Dil Sehra", "Ziddi Bacchha" & "Tera Hijr Bara Badzat Sajan".

MERAY BHI KUCHH KHAAB HAIN
Amjad Islam Amjad

Description:
Amjad Islam Amjad, these days is a household name. Over the years, both as a drama writer and as a poet, he has enriched the lives of many.

The purpose of all truly good poetry is to reduce stress in readers or listeners, calming them both physically and emotionally. This is exactly what Amjad has succeeded in doing. Extracting the various colors from the portrait of life and presenting them in verses that we can recognize and relate to easily, displays a tenderness and sensitivity on the part of the poet. This sensitivity at times often veers into dramatic exclamations, conveying the rich, complex character of the poet. Added to this his remarkable gift for evocative language completes the poet and results in a book by the Amjad, which definitely deserves a large readership.

GHUNCHA PHIR LAGA KHILNAY
Anwar Masood

Description:
It is a credit to Anwar Masood's talent as a poet that none other than Amjad Islam Amjad has compared him with Nazir Akbar Allahabadi.

Anwar Masood is a much sought after poet in ghazal and poetry functions both within and outside of Pakistan. His main weapon lies in the structure of his quatrains (poem or part of a poem comprised of four lines with an established rhyme and rhythm scheme). The first three verses seem pretty ordinary- the fourth verse, however, strikes you down.

It is an established fact that in poetry functions attended by Anwar Masood, respected poets from around the country try and read their poetry before Anwar Masood gets a chance to address the audience, for fear of failing to match the high standard set by Anwar Masood.

This book is a collection of Anwar Masood's humorous quatrains, nazms & ghazals.

MAH E TAMAM
Perveen Shakir

Description:
Numerous poets before Parvin Shakir have written poems about love; the trials & tribulations of love, failed love, betrayal, passion etc. However, most of these poets have dwelled upon love from the male perspective. Parvin Shakir has brought the female perspective, female emotions & feelings about love into focus.

Along with having brought a fresh perspective to Urdu poetry, Parvin Shakir, to her credit, is commonly known as the most complete poet after Faiz Ahmed Faiz. No wonder Ahmed Faraz, in his tribute to the poetess has noted that "After Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Parvin Shakir's Urdu poetry is the most widely read in the current day & age".

GUFTA SHAGUFTA
Sarfaraz Shahid

Description:
This book boasts a collection of Sarfaraz Shahid's most humorous poems. Sarfaraz Shahid's skills in writing poetry first surfaced when he wrote a verse for his 4th grade teacher. Since then he has gone on to be known as one of the best in the field of homorous poetry. Indeed some people rank him alongside Zameer Jaffrey, Dilawar Figar & Anwar Masood.

Sarfraz Shahid is of the opinion that a good humorous poem should not only bring a smile to the reader's lips but the content should also be morally acceptable. Zameer Jaffrey has noticed Sarfraz Shahid's efforts in this regard & has praised him for refraining from using vulgarity as a tool to amuse people (as many others in this field have done).

Qamar Jalalwi Collection (Set of 2 books)

Qamar Jalalwi

Description:
Qamar Jalalwi was titled 'ustad' during his life time as he was a master in every aspect of Urdu poetry. However, in 'marsia-nigary' and ghazals, he stood out. His proficiency in the field led him to be recognized as the last poet from the school of 'Mir Taqi Meer'- no small honor.

Qamar Jalalwi lived a modest life. He often kept to himself, contemplating on religion and life in general. Fame didn't mean much to him. His poetry was just his way of expressing how and what he thought about his religion and life in general. So true and dedicated he was to his art that not even one of his poems got published during his life time.

As such having this collection itself is a great achievement and it wouldn't have been possible had it not been for Qamar Jalalwi's daughter, Kaneez Jalalwi, who collected his poems over a period of time and handed them to the publishers.

Surely Ustad Qamar Jalalwi's death has left a great void in Urdu literature which will be hard to fill. But thankfully for us he has left, and his daughter has accumulated for us, some of the richest verses in Urdu Literature.

MEHRAB O MEZRAB
Josh Maleh Aabadi

Description:
Although 18 years have passed since Josh Maleh Aabadi left us, through his works, he would forever be part of our memory.

Josh's contribution to Urdu Literature and to the Urdu language in general has been phenomenal. Initially it was his love for the Urdu language that made him migrate to Pakistan. This is obvious when one reads his poetry as sweetness in the Urdu language, comparable to this, can hardly be found in any other poets work.

This eagerly awaited collection of Josh's poetry was published 11 years after his death. For the admirers of Josh this was an awful long time.

Kulyaat- E -Nasir
Nasir Kazmi

Description:
Nasir Kazmi was one of the leading Urdu poets of the post-partition era. Full of unfulfilled ambitions and tragedies, his poetry had an autobiographical feel about it.

The intention, which moved Nasir to try his hand at poetry, was a noble one. He wanted to forever capture the eye pleasing and emotionally moving images in his poems. Such preservation has amounted to an evergreen and immortal legacy left behind by the poet. Although primarily his poetry constituted to Ghazals, he was also found proficient in writing ‘Nazms’ and dramas. ‘Surr Ki Chaya’ is one such work in this book where Nasir displays his various talents. Conceptually it’s a drama, masterfully construed in a form of a ‘Nazm’.
