The Lying Tree

It all starts with just a little seed,
planted by a fib or white lie told,
Before you know, it starts to grow,
soon roots of deceit have taken hold.

Starts spreading like a wild fire,
the branches reaching far and wide.
Masquarades as tree of strength,
yet very hollow deep inside.

The lying tree lacks honesty,
as untruths hide beneath the leaves.
The more it grows its plain to see,
for what a tangled web it weaves.

This tree only grows in darkness,
In hollows dank, the lie still thrives
Reality revealed in light,
with sun brought forth the truth survives.

For you shall lose respect and trust,
lies take on a life all their own.
Truth always wins, it shall prevail,
in the end falsehoods become known.
