A River Runs Far

Where the river runs it runs from me,
flowing wildly and endlessly.
Though torents of rain swollen river,
as mighty heaven's down-pour deliver.

Traveling throughout time and history,
flow good and bad times in memory.
Sweet song of a waltz still fills the air,
whisper softly along without care.

Hidden in depths, evil long ago,
war and carnage mighty river flow
Evil raged from wandering streams,
created a hell on earth it seems.

Beauty still lies in valleys and leas,
wander countryside in search of seas.
Ripples and rapids journey on end,
rush to places found round the bend.

Endless river of length and of breadth,
goes meandering changing in depth.
European treasure the Danube,
between iron gates find river of blue.
