Mine Eyes

Mine Eyes have seen the oceans
stretching endlessly to the seams.
Life goes on as we do the motions.
Time darkens, but regains its gleam.

Mine eyes have seen the waters
that glisten in the moonlight still.
Many brave souls die as martyrs,
but with love their hearts are filled.

Mine eyes have seen the death
that the oceans cautiously hide.
I have seen one take their last breath.
I have seen the last of life's high tide.

Mine eyes have seen the depths
of something endless to my eyes,
but I must take the world in steps
before this body tires out and dies.

Mine eyes have seen the oceans
and how beautiful they truly be,
because the waters hold many emotions
that my unworthy eyes cannot see.
