Sister Love

My sister;
We cannot often share
the heavy burdens of our hearts
Nor hold each others'' hands,
for we are miles apart
You cannot tell me; nor can I
express to you
the jagged, painful wounds
that sometimes mar our hopes; our dreams;
or scar our very beings
But every now and then
we talk for a little while
and your voice, your love, my sister,
puts the finest, softest padding
around my heart
And I am soothed, comforted, strengthened
