ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry Friday took a suo motu notice of the media footage in which a 17 year old girl is being whipped out in the broad daylight in Swat.
Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhdy ordered the matter to be presented before a larger bench on April 6. He also summoned Secretary Interior, IG and Chief Secretary on April 6.
He ordered formation of 8-member larger bench to be headed by himself.

Khair, Islam ka naam to badnaam karne se rahe. Kyonke woh khud kissi ka mohtaaj nahin hai. Lekin hum muslims badnaam zaroor ho rahe hain aur sub se buri baat hai ke khud apne aap ko badnaam kar rahe hai. sirf dunya ke saamne nahin, Allah ke saamne bhi hum bas kuch nahin rahe.
Allah hum pe rehm kare aur seedhi rah pe chalne ki taufeek de.
Aur us larki ki kahan sun aur deikh ke to dil khuun ke aansoo rooya.

This is exactly the kind a reaction this video was intended to generate -- anger against the application of Islamic law.
news outlets reported that it was a fake video and the girl claimed to be the victim has denied flogging. There are also reports circulating that two flogging incidents happened, one was fake and the other was true.

My feeling about publicising an act like this had a different objective behind it. It is more of a smear campaign against Islam. What it tells people is if you wish shariah law, then this is what you get, "flogging".
They want people to see that Islam is all about restrictions and punishmentments....glaring examples of shariah application are Afghanistan, Sudan and Saudi Arabia, and now Swat valley....what is your alternative? exactly! western lifestyle!....you can do whatever you want and there is no punishment because it is "humane" way of life that allows freedoms for all sorts of behaviors.
