Uniondale, NY - The New York Islanders have placed goaltender Evgeni Nabokov on injured reserve because of a groin injury.

A timetable for his return was not revealed, but Islanders coach Jack Capuano on Saturday indicated it could be a "couple of weeks." Kevin Poulin will assume the starters role, while the Islanders on Monday recalled netminder Anders Nilsson from their American Hockey League affiliate in Bridgeport.
