BETHESDA, Md. Wholesale Cheap Jerseys . -- Tiger Woods never felt so good after playing so badly. Taking two shots to escape a plugged
lie in a bunker put him a hole. Four straight bogeys on the back nine Friday in
the Quicken Loans National buried his chances of making it to the weekend. Over
two rounds at Congressional, he missed 16 greens and managed to save par only
three times. Woods was back -- just not for very long. Playing for the first
time in more than three months because of back surgery, he had a 4-over 75 on
Friday and missed the cut by four shots. It was only the 10th time in his PGA
Tour career that Woods missed a 36-hole cut, and the first time he didnt sound
overly distressed. "I hate to say it, but Im really encouraged by what happened
this week," Woods said. "I missed the cut by four shots -- thats a lot. But the
fact that what I was able to do physically, and the speed I had and the distance
that I was hitting the golf ball again, I had not done that in a very long time.
Felt great today. Then, as I said, I made so many little mistakes ... all the
little things that I know I can fix. But as I said, thats very encouraging." And
it wasnt all that surprising. Woods had played only four tournaments this year
while coping with an increasingly sore back, which led him to have surgery March
31 and miss the first two majors. He had hoped to return for the British Open
next month. Instead, he felt strong enough to play the Quicken Loans National,
primarily because it benefits his foundation and Woods figured he needed to get
in a little competition before going to Royal Liverpool. Even it if was only two
rounds. "I came back four weeks earlier than we thought I could," Woods said. "I
had no setbacks. I got my feel for playing tournament golf. I made a ton of
simple, little mistakes -- misjudging things and missing the ball on the wrong
sides and just didnt get up-and-down on little, simple shots. Those are the
little things I can correct." Marc Leishman of Australia turned potential bogey
into unlikely birdie when he holed out from 127 yards on the par-5 ninth hole on
his way to a 5-under 66 and a four-way share of the lead going into the weekend.
Oliver Goss, another Aussie who is making his second pro start, had a bogey-free
66 and joined Leishman at 6-under 136 along with Ricky Barnes (69) and
Patrick Reed (68), who already has won twice this year. Woods was 13 shots
behind at 7-over 149. It wasnt the largest 36-hole gap from the leaders in the
previous nine times he missed the cut on the PGA Tour. It just looked that way.
Woods took two shots to get out of a plugged lie in a bunker on the fifth hole
and made double bogey. He three-putted for par on the next hole and never looked
more sloppy than on the short par-4 eighth. He was in perfect position after
hitting a big drive, 61 yards from the hole at the right angle. His pitch was
too strong and left of the flag, leaving him a downhill chip from the collar. He
hit that 7 feet by and missed the par putt. Even so, the damage came after
consecutive bogeys around the turn. His tee shot went into a hazard on No. 11,
forcing him to punch out. He hit a wild hook off the tee on the 12th, and his
second shot was headed for a bunker until it was suspended in the grass on the
lip of the sand. He hit a poor chip from below the green on the 13th. And from
the 14th fairway, he missed the green and hit another poor chip. Four bogeys, no
time to recover. "If it were anybody else, I would say that I would expect kind
of a struggle. But you just never know with Tiger," Jordan Spieth said after his
own brilliant display of a short game that allowed him to make the cut. "He just
got a couple rounds under his belt. So hes going to be a severe threat at the
British -- probably a favourite -- and after playing these couple rounds, I
think hell take something from it. "Hes not that far off from being right back
to where he was." Woods took encouragement from not feeling any pain in his
back, and from swinging as hard as he wanted with his driver. Thats what
concerned him about playing this week. Turns out it was the two shortest clubs
in his bag -- the wedge and putter -- that did him in. It was surprising to see
Woods go straight from the range to the tee in both rounds. Most players give
themselves a few extra minutes in the chipping area. "The short game was off,"
Woods said. "Ive been practicing on Bermuda grass, and I grew the grass up at my
house and it was Bermuda. But come out here and play rye, its totally different.
And it showed. I was off. I probably shout have spent more time chipping over on
the chipping green than I did. But thats the way it goes." His last act as
tournament host is to present the trophy, and that could be anyone. Ten players
were separated by only two shots going into the weekend, and there was only a
nine-shot differential from first to last place. Former U.S. Open champion
Justin Rose had 65 to get within three shots of the lead. NFL Jerseys Wholesale . According to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger, it doesnt appear the offer was warmly received by the team. Blue Jackets director
of hockey operations John Davidson and general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said on
Wednesday the team has made offers of $6 million for two years, $32 million for
six and $46 million over eight years but each one was refused by the restricted
free agent centre and agent Kurt Overhardt. Wholesale Jerseys Online . The former Edmonton Oilers defenceman was with the St. Louis Blues in training camp on a professional tryout. Whitney, 30, had four
goals and 13 points in 34 games with the Oilers last season.INDIANAPOLIS --
Indianapolis Motor Speedway officially opened for the month of May with a
chaotic road course race that started with a wreck, saw Canadian James
Hinchliffe and the mayor of the city injured by flying debris, and, finally,
Simon Pagenaud celebrate a fuel-mileage victory. Pagenaud won the inaugural
Grand Prix of Indianapolis on Saturday, the first IndyCar Series race on IMS
road course, by stretching his fuel the final 29 laps. The Frenchman was one of
several drivers to gamble on gas, and he took the lead when Oriol Servia had to
stop with four laps remaining. Pagenaud managed to make it to the finish for his
third series victory despite having to keep an eye on his mirrors. Ryan
Hunter-Reay was second and Helio Castroneves third on his 39th birthday. "Man I
didnt know what we were asking for, but we made fuel," Pagenaud said in Victory
Lane. "The fuel saving was amazing. It was nerve-wracking. I was worried about
RHR coming back, and I didnt know what Helio was doing here. I dont like racing
off throttle." Sebastien Bourdais and Charlie Kimball rounded out the top five.
Hinchcliffe, of Oakville, Ont., was taken from the track on a stretcher and
transported to a hospital, where he was diagnosed with a concussion after he was
hit in the head with debris. A replay appeared to show debris from a car in
front of him flew into his cockpit following a restart. IndyCar said hell have
to be re-evaluated before hes cleared again to drive. Preparations begin Sunday
for the Indianapolis 500, with qualifying scheduled to begin next Saturday for
the May 25 race. IndyCar policy in the past has been to hold a driver with a
concussion out of the car a minimum of seven days. Andretti Autosport said EJ
Viso will be the standby driver for Hinchcliffe. "Im a little stiff and sore and
Id love to be back in the car tomorrow, but I suppose I should probably let the
doctors make that decision," Hinchcliffe said in a statement. Hunter-Reay said
he drove by Hinchcliffes car and couldnt figure out what happened. "I was
actually next to him on track and all of a sudden debris went everywhere and he
slowed up," Hunter-Reay said about his teammate. "It was something that happened
in front of him and he was hit." The race began with a violent wreck when
pole-sitter Sebastian Saavedra stalled on the standing start. He was hit by
multiple cars, and debris struck Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard as he waved the
green flag. Saavedras car siimply didnt go when the lights went out and, after
Hunter-Reay frantically darted around him, Saavedra was clipped by Carlos Munoz
and then hit hard from behind by Mikhail Aleshin. Cheap NFL Jerseys. "We just followed protocol at the start," Saavedra said. "As soon as I released the clutch, it went from 11,000 rpm to zero. This should
not have happened, unfortunately." The initial hit from Munoz didnt seem too
bad, but Aleshins direct hit sprayed debris all over the track, sending
spectators and track workers standing along the wall scrambling for cover.
Saavedra was seen in his cockpit with his arms in the air anticipating a
potential collision as cars tried to weave their way around his stalled KV
Racing car. He was visibly upset after the accident as he talked to his team on
his pit stand. He had won the first pole of his career -- in part because
Hunter-Reay had his two fastest laps disallowed for causing a caution in Fridays
qualifying -- and was looking for a strong finish at the famed race track. "Man,
we had an opportunity to be at the front of the pack in this amazing place. We
wanted to bring it home in the same place," he said. "To not even get a chance
because of a freaking electrical thing ..." It had many drivers complaining
about the standing starts, which have been problematic since IndyCar began using
them at some tracks last season. The incident damaged several cars one day
before teams begin practice for the May 25 Indianapolis 500. "I think IndyCar
has had like two good standing starts since we started them last year," said
driver/owner Ed Carpenter, who saw Mike Conway have to take his car to the
garage for repairs after the accident. "Havent been a fan, still not a fan."
Drivers also grumbled about the way race control was restarting the races, with
the leader having to use a late restart zone. Graham Rahal said he was
victimized when he was run into from behind by Juan Pablo Montoya. "These
restarts are pretty stupid. You cant see back there because the rear wings are
so big, and the officials, we need to work with them to try to change this
because theres going to be a lot of accidents," Rahal said. "I said the restart
before, I said to my dad, Somebodys going to get hurt out here because you cant
see. "They need to let the leader go earlier. Right now, the way it is, theyre
trying to be like NASACAR and this isnt NASCAR. We cant just bump-draft each
other." Wholesale Jerseys China ' ' '
