After Urmila Matondkar's trip to Pakistan, it's Bollywood filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and daughter Pooja Bhatt who will be crossing the border this time to attend the 3rd Kara Film Festival to be held in Karachi. Bhatt's semi-autobiographical film Zakhm, for which Ajay Devgan bagged the National Award, will be screened in the festival on December 16. Also Pooja Bhatt's directorial debut Paap starring John Abraham and newcomer Udita Goswami will make its world premiere in the festival on December 20. And though Bollywood DVD's are largest circulated in Pakistan this is the first time that a Hindi film will be shown in country.
Other Indian films to be screened at the festival include the Dimple Kapadia starrer Leela, Sahiba Kumar's Khamosh Pani, Anant Patwardhan's War and Peace, a film based on tabla maestro Zakir Hussian – The Speaking Hand and a lineup of documentaries based on the anti-establishment theme.
