Amrish Puri is no more

Veteran actor Amrish Puri is no more. He had not been keeping well since December 31, 2004 and died in Mumbai on Wednesday morning at the Hinduja Hospital, he was 72.

Puri suffered a blood clot in the brain and slipped into coma and was also being treated for malaria, said the sources. The actor had undergone a surgery last week. The funeral is likely to take place on Thursday.

Amrish Puri was born on June 22, 1932 and made his Bollywood debut in 1971 with Reshma Aur Shera. After being rejected for hero's role by the producers he turned to theatre and also lent his voice to several advertisement jingles. After Reshma Aur Shera, he had to wait a long time before filmmaker Shyam Benegal offered him roles in films like Nishaant, Manthan and Bhumika.

His career-defining role came with Mr. India in 1987, as Mogambo and he carved a niche for himself in the industry. He also acted in Steven Spielberg's Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Hulchul - also starring Akshaye Khanna & Kareena Kapoor… was his latest release

yo its very said that he is dead. He was a great actor and i loved his acting in all of his movie. specially in Mr.India and Virasat

yeah, he was the best villian.
when i was little, like 7 or 8, he used 2 scare me, with his bigg eyes and freaky deep voice.

VERY sad news.

altho i hated his comment regarding pakistan awhile back, i always thought he was a wicked actor. not only a good 'bad guy', but a funny one too. his best movie in my opinion was KISHAN KANHAIYA!
