Northern Lights

The sky adorned with northern lights,
flashing past Kodiak Isle.
Snuggling close on long winter nights,
Mckinley peaks near four miles.

Land of adventure awaits there,
where cruel arctic weather prevails.
Mid white snow blends the polar bear,
misty fjord home to humpback whales.

Glaciers and melting ice caps flow,
where nature's wonders so abound.
Fishermen harvest salmon's roe,
as fur trappers track frozen ground.

Life's circle, natives celebrate,
with dances and customs of old.
Snoozing in dens, bears hibernate,
hear folklore and sagas retold.

Unforgiving, yet times serene,
with king crabs and meadow flowers,
From white tundra to leas of green,
seasons change with nature's powers.
