Jhoomer - The Review

Jhoomer, another most-awaited flick by Syed Noor was released on Eid Day in Cirose Cinema-Rawalpindi.Unlike other Syed Noor movies' unpredictable nature, i was pretty much sure about the success of this movie before I saw it, thinking that with a recent huge success like Majajan under his belt, Syed Noor must have finally learnt how to capture viewers attention till the end of the movie.
Expectations were high, crowd were positive, so no one hated the typical lollywood style of how movie started. I was still optimistic of movie being a hit. But against all the positive previews and high hopes, unlike Majajan, Jhoomer proved to be another piece of sh*tt! A huge waste of time n money!

Jhoomer is based on a "True Story" of a dehati girl (saima) who falls in love with an army guy, played by Momi. They finally get married as it was predictable. And then starts a non-sense with no rationality in it. Typical bloodshed, songs picturized in Murree n Daman-e-Koh (Islamabad) n some noticeable acting by our lovely girl - THE SAIMA.

Well i don't really feel like going through the same agony that i had while watching the film by typing down the full story. In short, another huge flop by Syed Noor. He might have thought, carrying on with the Majajan Sets and locations, he can get another classic the same way. But Jhoomer was no way near Majajan.

No one can deny Syed Noor's talent. But with talent you gotta realize that viewers are clever enough to differentiate between an original product and a "Mixture".

Music was of top-notch, a couple of beautifuly picturized scenes reminded of Majajan, rest was crap. The start, the ending, the storyline, simply makes you feel that you are watching a movie by some B-Class Director. Only good music and "big names" can't save the movie.

5/10 for Jhoomer

well firstly you cant say flop or hit to pakistani films after just few days, in india or usa you can as they have big infranstruchure, there films release in 500/600 cinemas and films cover all costs in first two weeks and then they get off cinema and release on dvd straight away.

in pakistan situation is completly different theres no infranstruchure here, for films to be hit they have to run for long time in cinemas, here films only open in 15 cinemas and cant recover costs till it runs for 2/3 months, hit films stay in cinemas for more the year, look at majajan and half years old but its still running in major cinemas that is how a film is blockbuster in pakistan,
the postive thing about this system is that if film is good word will spread on it and people can go and watch it, thats not the case in india as films only last 2 weeks in cinemas there and when word of mouth is out its also out of cinemas,

so in jhoomers case its goes for it,opening is lowest but film is being highly appreciated, and when word is out hype will automaticly increase, exactly what happened with chooriyan, mehndi waley haat and majajan.
plus jhoomer had a limited release and is yet to release in karachi, so now that people are appreiating it, media will pick it up and the news will be heard in karachi so when it releases in khi, there will be hype around it and people willing to watch it.

they say "seeing is believing", n this proverb probably goes best with the movies.

I appreicate your time an effort in analysing the situation bro, but i have personally seen this movie. And being a regular viewer of Pakistani movies for almost 10 years now, i can tell if a specific is gonna be a success or not after seeing it.

Remember wot i told you guys about MEDLKA n Tere Bin Jiya Na Jaye, some very serious viewers like Chrizmatic (no offence dude) declared them very gud and Super Hitt rightaway. I kept saying after seeing the movies that they were gonna be big flops, no one believed me. Now truth is in front of you.

No matter how gud is the promotion, how many cinemas the movies released in n wot time it released, there's always a simple criteria for a movie to be HIT. That's its quality (that includes story, direction, music, actions, cinematography etc.). Which none of the above mentioned movies (neither Jhoomer) comply to:

Aggresive promotion and number of cinemas might get you intial good response but the fate of the movie eventually comes down to its Quality.

And jhoomer is gonna b out the cinemas before it celebrates its first month. YOu can take my words.

well my post was on analysis of box office in pakistan not on jhoomer, you sjust repeated what i said, and i agree for a movie to be hit in pakistan it needs to be a quality movie and i guess thats what goes for jhoomer by looking at the reports.
your review might be bad on it, but media is appreciating it, well not everyone can like it, even people hated kkl.

Posted on 10/27/2007 7:41:47 AM

well i agree with straight here the number of people who have seen jhomer didn't like it much and no matter how much media apreciate the movie in the end its the paying public whoz gonna decide the fate of the movie.

Posted on 10/27/2007 2:50:43 PM

Yaar public ka response abhi tak Khul key samney nahin aya...lets wait...

Posted on 10/27/2007 4:39:28 PM

well dude public response usally matches with media appreciation,

Posted on 10/27/2007 9:34:52 PM

media apreciated pehla pehla pyar as well

Posted on 10/27/2007 10:14:39 PM

Posted on 10/28/2007 8:14:53 AM

you know wot, media gets paid for the promotion and initial appreciation of a new movie. Anyways if you don't believe me, let the final reports come out. From here on, i m not gonna say anything about jhoomer.
