ISLAMABAD: Zeenat Perveen won Pakistan the first gold medal in the 4th Women Islamic Games in Tehran today.

Zeenat Perveen employed by Wapda and hailing from Faisalabad, landed the gold medal in the shot put event of athletics. A 102-strong Pakistan contingent is competing in 11 disciplines at the 4th Women Islamic Games.

It has been six years since a Pakistani woman has won a gold medal in Athletics. Previously Rehana Akhter won a silver medal in the high jump event of the SAF games in 1999.
