maryam was having a happy normal day in mama parsi. She had lunch with her best friends sabina and hira, and completed her work for hunkadonk. It was all going wonderfully, until she discovered lighters in her locker - she had a terrible fear of them, and wondered who could do such a cruel thing.

'I bet it was zahrah,' said sabina. 'She's been jealous of you since she heard that you were going to the eid with manie.' maryam sighed.

'Did you read the jung?' said hira. 'There was an article about adil, who shocked everyone when he farted.'

'Really?' said maryam. 'Can I read the article?'

hira gave it to her.

The jung has heard rumors that adil is back after the shock of many years ago when he farted. This is not true. adil is in karachi.


maryam scanned the article and was startled to discover that she and adil were alike - they have same sized buttocks.

maryam walked home feeling very troubled. When she got home, there was a note on her doorstep. She opened in and screamed. It was full of lighters. There was also a letter.

Who could it be? Was it really adil or someone closer to her? maryam suspected everyone - zahrah of course, who always sneered at her. manie, even though he was the dreamiest boy in mama parsi. She even suspected hira who had a great love for lighters and had been acting strangely recently. The only person she could trust was sabina who had been her friend since they were small children.

The night before the eid, maryam went with sabina to the bathroom, and they discovered it was empty. maryam was pleased to have sabina with her, because she was very nervous about adil, as well as avoiding manie, hira, and zahrah. 'Isn't it strange,' said sabina. 'How much we have in common?'

maryam remembered that they have same sized buttocks. She became uneasy. 'sabina, don't you have family in karachi?'

The next day they discovered that sabina had died horribly. maryam was sad - sabina had been her friend for years, and becoming a crazed psycho in the space of a few days could happen to anyone. But she placed her trauma firmly behind her and went to the eid with manie, much to the dismay of zahrah.
