Deepawali (diwali) is the biggest festival of hindus. just come to india on diwali night.. everywhere in the whole country you will find the noise of crackers blastin your ear.. its a festival of unity.

diwali is celebrated as the day when lord RAM returned to his home town ayodhya after 14 years of exile. that night was a no moon night. so ppl lit there homes with diyas to welcome RAM.

on this very day godess laxmi(godess of wealth) was married
to lord VISHNU.

that is why we worship laxmi, saraswati and ganesh on that day.
saraswati becoz she is the godess of wisdom. so after gettin wealth one doest lose his mind.

and ganesh is worshiped first of all on any ocasion.


so much for the history.. what i like is the way whole city is decorated with electric jhalars. and of course the crakers.
