The third Lux Style Awards will be held in Dubai on May 27. Details in this regard were announced at a Press Conference held at the Amin Gulgee Gallery here on Thursday.
While speaking on the occasion Unilever Pakistan's Brand Manager, Tom Darlow, said "Lux Style Awards were started to form an association between Lux and the showbiz. This was because Lux and stars or celebrities had always been together. There was no formal platform where their efforts could be recognized".
Tom Darlow said that another reason was that Pakistan was seen in the world as a country of extremism rather than a country of talent. "The purpose of these awards is to recognise the achievements of Pakistanis. This is regarded as a serious event, one with depth and professionalism. It is fully monitored and audited by a third party. Thirty million people viewed these awards on television last year."
He said that the third Awards would be a giant leap forward. "The event will be watched on TV around the world. It will reach far beyond the audience of Pakistan television. Through Sony we will be able to show a world class show that is the Lux Style Awards in Dubai. It will be an exciting award ceremony and I believe Pakistanis would not have seen such a ceremony before," he said.
Indian star Sonu Nigam will also participate in the awards ceremony. He recently performed in Pakistan. Twelve cameras by Sony TV channel will be used to cover the event.
The colourful Award ceremony will be shown in the country on the Pakistan Television Network. But to showcase the best Pakistani talent on the world stage, LUX Style Awards has selected Singapore-based Sony Entertainment Television Asia (SET), to telecast the show on their network. Backed by the SONY Corporation, the SET enterprise caters to programming needs of the huge South Asian population around the world.
