Sunflower

When the sun rises from the East
Sunflower like a solar priest
Turns towards the sun facing the light
And then tracing the solar flight
Chasing its beloved all through the day
So long as the sun is on its way.
With each flower, a thousand seeds
Follow the light as the flower leads.
Each day the seeds with the flower grow
Each reflecting the solar glow;
Until the flower will release each seed
And each seed a flower will breed.
Earth sunflower, we the seeds
Like a Pearl amidst galactic beads
Hurtling with so much delight
Progress its divine plight.
We take part in this flight
And behold the divine sight
Until Earth will let us go
And from each a new world will grow.

Take a Chance

Once upon a time I read a book by chance
Where Gandhi said take a risk in romance
I took a risk with an intent and loving glance
But the lady did not wish to dance.

I learnt a risk is only a risk
If we are willing to accept failure brisk,
And if I never took that chance
How could this experience me enhance?

The question is did I lose
Or was failure if this I did not choose?
I succeeded for now I prance
Regardless of outcome take my chance.

Heart’s Design

Heart for spreading love was designed
Getting even, comes from the ego mind
The heart that can’t put things behind
Will only punish and bind.
Put outrageous and unkind
Conditions out of your mind;
If these, by love were defined
To all misdeeds would be blind.
Noble heart banished, confined
By the calculating, despotic mind;
Yet if the heart freedom can find
Will be generous, loving and kind.
Heart for spreading love was designed
All else is simply maligned.

Walk the Talk

It is so easy to say
Such & such is the right way
But when it’s time to play
And my neck on the line lay
No more time to talk
But the talk I must walk
My fears all surface
Challenges I must face
It becomes though to tread
The very path I dread
Integrity will demand
By my own rules I command
And if I take a stand
I must first understand
What others I have do
The same I must do too
And if on this path
I encounter much wrath
So be it, I must face
That wrath with much grace
Else stop my talk
Till the talk I can walk.

Calm before the Storm

They say there is a calm before the storm
Yet there is a calm of a different form
Coming in the storm's aftermath,
Followed by another stormy wrath.

Before and after a storm there is calm
Before and after calm too there is storm.
In the desert there is cactus and palm
One prickly, other into food transform.

No point blessing one, the other curse
Face one, with the other yourself nurse.
Through tough times lighten your purse
In good times generously disburse.

The Traveler

A man once asked, "who are you?"
"A traveler, just like you!"
"All my life I've lived here
And here I will disappear!"
"That may be so," I told that man
"look another way, I'm sure you can.
You may be born in this place
And here death will know your face,
But in the long term perspective
You only have a brief time to live.
You come here from another place
And you'll go to a different space,
But for a brief life time or so
This part of your trip you'll get to know.
You too are a traveler, like me
Our difference, the way I see
To cover much space with time I race,
You'd rather stay longer in one place."

Gardener & Teacher

I planted some yellow daffodils
Using my best gardening skills.
Unbeknownst to me among the seeds
Were mixed the seeds of some weeds.
Very soon my garden flowered
Was then by weeds overpowered,
I had to dig my garden deep
Uproot the plants and burn that heap.

Many teachers are false preachers
Their plots, minds of naive creatures.
What they teach is half-truths
Their teaching simple minds soothes.
A half-truth is half false
In spite of its living pulse:
The beautiful truth brings delight
The lie, the weed, transforms that sight.

Ignorant gardener who flowers breeds
Among the seeds plants the weeds,
The false teacher with good intentions
Among truths, many lies mentions;
Gardener will dig his garden deep,
False teacher's flames to skies shall leap;
The gardener his plants uproots,
False teacher brings many false fruits.

Color & Light

All around, many a colorful sight
Is created by the power of the light
In the darkness of black midnight
We see no color or shade in sight.
Deprived of color, in our fright
We simply blame the dark night.
We avoid the blinding light
Of the daytime sun beaming bright.
Sun carries all colors in light white
Source of all light, gives color might.

The world of appearance we embrace
Its cause, the mind, we displace
Succumbed to the powerful time and space
We blame the mask, ourselves disgrace
Yet our mind is the place
Which appearance will replace
And our mind's source is God's grace
Which gives rise to the human race.
We turn away from God's face
The source of mind, time and space

On My Own

We parted way
Before mid-day
Back was his path
Ahead mine lay

Now on my own
But not alone
For all the world
My hands will hold
My soul embrace
My path will trace
All I must do
Is make space.

Soul Sickness

Soul Sickness can’t be cured with effort or will
Something else is needed if the soul is ill.
Climbing mountains high, or even a hill
Going through some kind of boot-camp drill
Will only distract, or at best, hours fill;
For Soul Sickness, there is no magic pill.

What the sick soul needs is time to be still
Empty itself from all, be naught and nil;
Until Grace of God, soul’s soil may till
And sow seeds of life, reap, take to the mill.

LIFE: THE UNFINISHED BUSINESS

The acts of men sometimes come so kind
And with such love do well express, yet
The deeds of men sometimes come so mean
And with great disgust is well despised.
These conflicts unresolved for times,
Someday, somewhere resolves to meet.

Between the times of history gone,
And the evolutions of future come
The present presents a balance point
In a mixing grill of settlement, where
Deeds and events do take their toll
In resolutions of investments made.

Mishap could be just a fair reward,
As life fortune is investment gained.
Opportunity could be just a means,
As occurrences are results obtained.
The pendulum swings to and fro,
Just as the clock ticks, tock and tick.

What goes on around and again,
Does come back again and around
Good or bad, it's all our choice,
For all our thoughts and acts today,
Are investments in the big game plan
Of this unfinished business of life.

Life Is A Vacation
At birth we started a long vacation
Some vacation becomes too long
Some there duration very brief
Whether long or brief we still vacate

The schedule starts at infancy
Some schedule are tight and others very loose
However we accomplish only what's destined

On this vacation we climb mountains
And make a descent of valleys
These are the contours of life
For it is filled with ups and downs

Life is a serious vacation
Where success and failures combines
Where some turns out wise
And others remain perpetually foolish
And another category remains on the fence
This the vacation of life

WHAT IF LIFE?, 12-08-02

What if life only lasted a day,
Do you think we'd appreciate it better?
What if life was like hell,
Do you think we would dream?
About a life like we have now?
What if in life we had everything,
Do you think it would get boring?
Why want another life?
Your life is perfect already

LIFE, by Helen Harvey,
Ontario Canada

If life where the wind
We would travel the ocean
We would understand the seas
And every moment,
If life were the wind
We'd always be flying
Life would blow by without us knowing
Where would time go?
Would there be such a thing?
We would enjoy every moment
From a higher perspective

OUR ESSENCE - Honey Judith Rubin

The Essence is all that is unique
It's Names are our descriptors,
and all our titled beings
with their platitudes and plans
are but the shell of a seed
to be transformed
as life
gives birth
again

RESURRECTION OF THE PRINCE WITHIN

And when the prince has toured the world
In search of the glory that he had lost,
Led astray by the illusions of his ego,
He comes to the threshold of reality
Always and ever waiting for his knock.

And when the prince abandons his ego,
And in humility accepts his fallacies,
He unburdens his mind of its illusions
And open in him a room for revelation
Of that which has hitherto been in him.

And thus in humbling of the little self,
The prince is exalted to higher realms,
Where he shall unite in identification,
With the true self and essence he truly is,
Always have been and always will be.

LOOKING THROUGH A BUM'S EYES
Joycelyn Solomon

I am a bum.
I am your worst nightmare but I do not care.
I have great insight and wisdom so let me share.
I have seen night and I also seen day.
I have seen happiness and I have seen pain.
I have witnessed the sane and the insane.
When you are thinking that you are really intact with the
world you are really living in this whirlwind.
So when you see me on the corner
Please pay me some mind.
Maybe you can see the world
through more than your eyes.

SONNET FOR THE SELF
Maybe for a thoughtful moment once
Bid myself a selfless question pose,
Asking for what the purpose it is
That Spirt does in surplus bestow
Blessings and sources in me to have.
To waste in me alone the all wealthy,
Or to share with others, the all needy?
To boost the pride in me inferior,
Or to test the conscience in me superior?
And if the answer on this to myself,
Grant not sincerely to me by self,
I deceive no one then but just myself.

For what gift I waste, is what I owe, and
In Divine accounting must someday balance.

SPIRIT OF SOUL, by Oliver Mbamara
"The heart of love knows the spirit of Soul,
And by the present practice of this perspective,
Shall the journey home be commenced,
And someday our destination shall meet within
To discover again, the true substance we are."

"And what am I but Soul,
And what is Soul but that I am;
The substance of beingness,
Expressing the consciousness of Spirit

BOUNDARIES
Dhaneshmkumar

The four walls fortifying the realms
make it to yell beyond the walls,
The fetters that build it to quell
the fondle triggers a wobbly,
Staggering changeling.

This child edify natures
statue that which bonds
till the pyre, an incredible
Crinkle deep in the roots,
An infamous urge
To crackle the chains.

Passionate bird that
migrate miles;
A jubilant dolphin
that divulge to ether;
A giraffes head
that jettisons out;
All of these are
Mothers credential.

HEART TO HEART
Ralph Maduike

Heart to heart we must live
With no stress nor strain
And with no limit but in infinity
As our hearts mingle and co-join

Heart to heart we shall dwell
And pay no rent to any landlord
We shall have peace of the soul
And no hindrance shall hinder

MY PLATINUM FRIEND
By Andrea Fletcher, USA

My Platinum Friend
My platinum friend is more
precious to me than any metal.
More sentimental than diamonds, rubies,
pearls, emeralds, sapphires,
she is the finest of them all.

The first day that we met,
I knew that she was different from the rest.
She shines exuberantly, lighting every path
along her way with everyone she encounters.
Her nature is genuine, rare and brilliant.
That makes her my platinum friend.

Friendship, by Michelle Gibson, Virginia

Every time the moon races the sky,
We think of things worldwide.
We think of things we cannot hide,
Of emotions, trapped deep inside.

With tears in our eyes and fear
In our hearts, we think of the end,
Where it starts. We think about all things,
Discrimination, occuring from nation to nation

When dark clouds bring in the rain,
Still harsh air brings back the pain.
Through all the tears we've cried,
God has promised to stand by our side.

FRIENDSHIP, by Rica Zuniga, Philipines

I maybe out of your sight,
But I would never be out of your life.
I maybe out of your reach,
But I would never be out of your heart.
I may leave but you would never be forgotten.

I may leave this place and people whom I trust
But the memories of being in this place
Would always be with me.
I may start a new life in a new place
But then, I would always keep your memories.

I promise you I'll come back
And we'll continue the friendship we had.

FRIENDS
By Jason Miller

Justin Dear Friend
Jason F. Miller
Having someone in life.
Someone kind, Loving,
Caring, but Generous,
Living in a world full of hate
Crying myself to sleep,
After one, changing life forever
Ten forty-five, cold December night,
Crushing metal all around,
Glass and tears on the ground,
Pain the say,
Pain we feel,
Pain in heart,
Pain in steel,
Death the say you feel calm,
Some as cold as there palm,
Peace they say, the end is nigh,
Can't feel much, but IM hold'n on,
Years to come years to go,
Good-bye dear friend

Forgiveness is king
By Emeka Azuine

Hatred comes from hearts
That have drowned their love
Enmity thrives in hearts
For whom God means no love.

War comes from hearts
That have dwarfed their brotherhood
Mayhem grows amidst faults
Unreconciled for the boom of good.

Forgiveness blossoms from hearts
That discover triumph in humility
Vendetta moulds around hearts
Like caves plundered by brutality.

When emotions trample over wisdom
We must step backwards and pause
For revenge is like a curse
It denies souls the triumph of freedom.
