Celina: Strong Resemblance With Parveen Babi

January 7, 2002.

Beauty queen Celina Jaitly has a very familiar face. It reminds you of someone. Have a closer look and you realise that Jaitly has a strong resemblance with the one time `oomph' actress Parveen Babi. She is presently shooting for 'Kashish' with Ajay Jadeja (who is making debut with this film). Call it destiny or whatever; Celina also makes her debut Jadeja, like Babi who made her debut with cricketer, Salim Durrani in a film called 'Charitra'. What a coincidence!

celina jaitly is doing her second film with fardeen khan, shaadi.com, a feroz khan home production. right now, she’s keeping mum about it. she has been diligently preparing for the role, going to feroz’s house for script sessions. however, she is willing to talk about her other film, janasheen. “no back problems for me!,” she laughs “so i can do all that dhak dhak dancing!” she plays the role of a girl with a tortured past. fardeen comes as her knight in shining armour. “feroz is such a great director, she gushes. and fardeen? “oh he’s fabulous,” says the former miss india. the shooting is almost 50 per cent complete and now they’re off to thailand to shoot the next sequence.

Celina parties while brother shot

Recently while shooting for Feroz Khan´s Janasheen Celina Jaitly had to suddenly leave the sets to catch a flight back home. Apparantly, Celina´s brother who serves in the Indian Army was hit in a cross border shelling.

While the brother survived the attack and is in a stable condition, Celina´s father too has received his call letter and will soon leave for the border.

Whispers arose that Celina chose to spend a couple of days in Kolkata (on the prodeucer´s time) with her friends and was spotted at the nightclub Big Ben in the company of some very ardent admirers...

Defence in Celina's Life

Recently while on a shooting schedule for Feroz Khan´s Janasheen Celina Jaitly had to suddenly leave to catch a flight back home. Apparently, Celina's brother who serves in the Indian Army had been hit in a cross border shelling. Thankfully, her brother survived the attack and is in a stable condition but her father has received his call letter and will soon leave for the border.

Whispers arose that Celina chose to spend a couple of days in Kolkata (on the producer's time) with her friends and was spotted at the nightclub Big Ben in the company of some very ardent admirers.

Terry Fox legacy lives on
   By: Abbas K Dodhiya
   February 15, 2005
------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------

FOR A GOOD CAUSE: Participants and organisers of the Terry
Fox run that was held in the city on Sunday
The legacy of a youngster who started the ‘Run of Hope’ for cancer patients lives on.

Organised by the Rotaract Club of Bombay, the ‘Marathon for Hope’ called the Terry Fox Run, saw big names and bigger contributions from the corporates, made the event a resounding success.

The participation of more than 8000 runners—young and old—and collection of funds close to Rs 22-25 lakhs, is testimony to the magnitude the Sunday event has gained.

Film-stars Sunil Shetty, Celina Jaitley, Diya Mirza, and singer Raageshwari mingled freely with patients from the Tata Memorial Cancer Institute and Spastic Society of India.

Hotel conglomerates Taj and Oberoi provided food boxes to participants.

But, the contribution from Indian Airlines elicited the biggest smile from the patients. The domestic national carrier offered 100 cancer patients a chance to travel to any part of India with an adult free of cost.

A spokesperson of the airline said: “The experience of flying, is something big for the underprivileged. Hence in keeping with out motto ‘smile with Indian Airlines’ we have given an offer that will be valid till December 31.”

The Governor of Maharashtra S M Krishna, American Consul General Angus Simmons and Higher Commissioner of Canada Lucie Edwards also participated in the run.

Looking at the awareness among the general public we are happy that Fox’s legacy will never diminish.

“It will be passed on to the future generations till a permanent cure is found,” said chairman of the Mumbai Terry Fox committee, Gul Kriplani.

Salman Khan as Prem
“He takes his name 'Prem' very seriously; especially when it comes to women.”

If there is a happily married man who seems like a happily unmarried bachelor it is he! High on life and laugh's wine and women, he proves instrumental in putting his friends high on their wives' hit list. The immense joy he derives from this, adds to his mischievous deviousness.

Who else but Salman Khan to portray the ‘enfant terrible' with a heart of gold.

Anil Kapoor as Kishen
“He invites trouble and trouble accepts his invitation”

A perfect businessman, he is also a perfect husband until everything goes perfectly wrong! For a moment of pleasure which gets over even before he can take pleasure out of it, he faces situations which lead him from one hilariously horrific situation to another.

Splendidly depicting a mix of nervous fear and comic deliverance is Anil Kapoor in a role is that does full iustice to his unquestionable talent.

Fardeen Khan as Sunny
“He fell in love and into a mess, both at the same time”

A photographer who loved to sensationalize through his pictures, he becomes a part of sensational situation which he certainly did not choose to be in. Indeed, Kishen his mentor manages to give him mental torture like none other.

In a refreshingly different role is Fardeen Khan. With his woebegone ex-pressions and perfect timing' this ‘avtaar' of Fardeen Khan is a treat to watch.

Esha Deol as Pooja
“To love is to trust; and love is blind.”

Devoted, caring, trusting and unquestioning, she is every man's favorite fantasy come true. Ironical indeed, that she has as her husband a man who is every woman's dreaded nightmare come true.

Esha Deol infuses poise, dignity and maturity far beyond her years into the character of Pooja.

Lara Dutta as Kaajal
“With a wife like her, marriage can mean the world but being single can be heaven!”

Her smothering love for the husband is breath – taking! So much so that it leaves him gasping for breath! Like her name Kaajal, she expects her husband to be within the eye's reach. And one day, quite like speak of dust in the eye something happens…… .

A surprise packet is Lara Dutta in a never-before- role. As the traditional and suspicious wife, her portrayal sheds light on an unexplored dimension of her immense talent.

Celina Jaitley as Sanjana
“Love makes the world go round. But love made her world go round and round.”

The saucy and sensuous Sanjana meets Sunny on a suicidal note. Circumstances that follow in their lives, indeed go on to make things very suicidal for them.

As Sanjana who does not know whether she is coming or going' Celina Jaitley arrives like never before!

Bipasha Basu as Bobby
“A man may be the head, but a woman is the neck that turns the head around!”

She spells trouble in more ways than one. A sizzling club dancer' she succeeds in making everyone dance on her fingers' so much so that wished they could dance their way into oblivion.

At times innocent, at times manipulative! At times sultry, at times cute, Bipasha Basu creates magic as Bobby.

Topsy turvy Story…

…Opens its doors to reveal the lives of three men.
Kishen ‘the married man',
Sunny ‘the Bachelor'
and
Prem, ‘the married bachelor'.

Ironically, while the faithful Kishen has a very suspicious Kaajal as his wife, play boy Prem has a trusting wife Pooja, And then there is Shekhar's-to-be wife Sanjana who is a bit of both.

Trouble brews when Prem decides to make Kishen taste the forbidden fruit that he loves so much. This forbidden fruit assumes the form of sultry siren Bobby, who walks through the board right into the lives of them all, leading to chaos, craziness, commotion and crisis. Who is the Bobby, who manages to turn all their lives topsy-turvy? Astonishingly, each one has a different answer to his question:

Different facets of Bobby

For Kishen     She is a temptress!

For Sunny       She is trouble!

For Prem        She is a trump card!

For Kaajal      She is Sunny's wife!

For Sanjana   She is Kishen's wife

For Pooja        She is the unknown devil!

If this were not enough, comes along politician P.K.Gupta who is hell bent on creating more trouble for them all. No Entry travels on the road of laughter, with milestones of humor, speed-breakers of ticklish moments; right turns unpredictable fun and signals of wackiness. To experience a roller coaster ride of unadulterated entertainment, get right in to this area.

Even if you are fined, it will be worth it!

South African safari
Celina Jaitley almost exited from Boney Kapoor's No Entry. Kyon? 'Coz she couldn't get her dance steps right. And choreographer Prabhu Devaa, who was slogging it out on Cape Town's White Sands, was one exasperated man. Finally, after hazaar retakes, he just threw his hands up in the air and said, 'Man, she can't dance.'
So Celina blew a fuse.
Next, co-star Fardeen Khan stepped in and asked Celina to get her act together or pack her bags and fly off. At this point, Celina's amber-coloured eyes flashed fire and she set off for the airport. But some assistants hot-footed it behind her, pleaded with her... and that's how Ms Jaitley re-entered No Entry.

Celina Jaitley
Reports say Salman Khan was totally bowled over by you during the outdoor of No Entry in Mauritius. He’s been wooing you and you’re not averse to his attention. Is this the beginning of a new love story?
It’s pure rubbish. Salman was never chasing or wooing me. He’s a thorough gentleman and was very courteous while we were shooting. There was hardly any communication between us because the outdoor was hectic and all the stars of the film were present for the schedule. Our main concern was to get the work done. I’m not even starring opposite him in the film.
It’s really unfair to write such a story without bothering to check facts. I’ve been nursing a broken heart after Alex and I split and believe me, I’m in no hurry to get involved again so soon. My focus is just my work right now.

Candid Khanspeak
   By: Upala KBR
   April 5, 2004
------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------
For Fardeen Khan, this is like a new avatar. The lost dude of last year has been replaced by someone who is all there, very self-aware, focussed and confident of taking on anything.

After a long hiatus from the media, the Khan opens up and talks about his first world tour, his spat with Celina Jaitley, his films and break-up with Ruheen. He has just signed Puneet Sira’s next film, Maidaan (produced by Nitin Manmohan), also starring his cousin Zayed Khan.

“Yes, I am doing the film,” Fardeen confirms. “Puneet is a talented director and he and his wife have done a great job. It’s a different kind of a film. It’s got a sport which is the basis of the movie. We are dealing with two maidans (fields) here — one is the sports field and the other is the field of life.”

Fardeen will be pitted opposite his good-looking cousin for the first time. “It will be interesting to work with him.” Any competition there? “No,” he replies seriously. “I don’t work like that.

We are not competing against each other. If you have faith in your director and happy with the scenes you are doing you can never feel insecure.”

Where did he disappear? “I didn’t disappear anywhere,” he says. “I was in Dubai and then South Africa shooting for Fida. Now I am back and will be going off for my first world tour for six weeks to UK, USA and Canada with Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai and Celina Jaitley,” he says.

Was he disappointed when Janasheen wasn’t a hit? “Why is everyone after Janasheen?” he wants to know. “Yes, I was disappointed that the film wasn’t a super hit but I was happy with the way the film was received. It opened very well, in Mumbai, the first week’s share was two crore, been a profitable movie for everyone so what more can I ask for?”

Fardeen has an interesting crop of films — Govind Nihalani’s socio-political drama Dev, Ken Ghosh’s thriller Fida, Anees Bazmee’s comedy No Entry and Madhur Bhandarkar’s Jail. “I don’t like to do boring roles any more. I do stuff that I like. I am getting greedy now as far as wanting to do exciting roles are concerned.

Then I have time to do stuff that I want to like gokarting, kite surfing in Mauritius. I am being offered a lot more interesting offers today than what I was offered earlier. I have attained a certain maturity, grown mentally and as an actor.”

Why did he act so indifferently in some of his earlier films? “Because the films didn’t shape out as they had promised to be. That’s why I have stopped doing films I don’t like nowadays.”

What is he playing in these films? “In Dev, I play an average Joe guy, out of law school, very grounded, who has his set of beliefs and is true to himself. In Fida I play a sharp, slick, man-of-the-world computer genius, a moronic character who goes out of control when faced with certain situations in No Entry and in Jail I play a man who has been wrongly accused. It highlights the justice system. We have bought the rights of a Tamil film called Kaka Kaka which we will be producing. It’s a role I am very excited about.”

One of his acting schools was Govind Nihalani. “I picked up a lot from him,” Khan drawls. “He’s a darling to work with. Govind is very clear in his vision and is a fantastic director. I feel enriched as an actor today after working with him. I have shed my commercial skin and learnt realism with him, how to play a character as real as possible and just letting your instincts and impulses take over.”

It was while shooting for No Entry that he and Celina Jaitley had a tiff with each other. “We had a problem,” Fardeen is honest. “But these things happen and we shot after that in south Africa. I wasn’t trying to teach her how to act it was something over a dance step. I said something I shouldn’t have and she reacted to it but it was no big deal. We sorted it out.”

Coming to his personal life is it true that he and Ruheen have broken up? “Yes, it is true. We are not seeing each other. That’s all I have to say about it. Ruheen and I still talk to each other, are still friends, I love her very much, will always love her, whatever I do in my life she will always share a part of it but it’s just that we are not a couple any more. Ruheen has faced a lot of grief and flak from the media and they have been very unfair to her and her family.”

How true is his reputation as a flirt? “Of course I am a bit of a flirt. I enjoy the company of women. But half of this image of mine is exaggerated. People see me talking to someone and they assume I am seeing her. But I am not sleeping with five women in a day! That is ridiculous! Recently I have been paired with Riya Sen and that’s a load of crap.”

CELINA JAITLY's LOVE 'SUTRA'!
We bumped into a stunning looking CELINA JAITLY at a recent film party where she commented on our scoop (some weeks back) linking her to south star, VISHNU BABU. She laughed, "I've just done a Telugu movie with Vishnu and I knew this was coming! He's a great friend but certainly not my boyfriend! In fact, he might be seeing someone as we talk!" Celina will be seen in BONEY KAPOOR's forthcoming No Entry and in VASHU BHAGNANI's Silsiley in which she's done a sizzling cameo. Her stalled project Idiot with ZAYED KHAN has re-started after RAM GOPAL VARMA took over the reins from director DEEPAK SHIVDASANI at the behest of Varma's friend and producer, A. PURNACHANDRA RAO, by appointing one of his erstwhile assistants to wrap it up. A friend in need is a...
