As all of us know (whether agree or not) Introduction section is only for inroduction and nothing else. So what about the other chit chat not related to the subject of the topic? Such posts and replys should be removed by moderators, and i think moderartors will get into trobble are you ready for it?

It is much better option to close old topics. 30 day period is enough for anyone to inroduce himself, isn't it?

INTRO section was not intended to be a chit chat section, it was only for new members to intoduce them and old members to welcome them and thats all. there are other sections where we can have gossips like fos, d3si squad, teen talk etc. or anyone is not convinced he can request a new forum to be opened named CHIT CHAT/GOSSIPS.

SIGNATURES: Everyone here is going oppose large signatures first. Ok, me starting from the same, ofcourse sig's size should be controlled, it gets very irritating sometimes when we see only the sigs everywhere on the page. An easy way to do this is to disable forum codes in sig. Since it will disable images at all, most ppl will oppose it as they are accustomed to huge, fancy sigs.


AVATARS: About avatars, it is clearly written of Avatar Upload dialog "Images must be of the type, jpg, jpeg, gif, png, and have a maximum file size of 75KB" while i have seen avatars of sizes greater than 1000KB (animated gifs). They take plenty of time to download. I think it is also a falut of the uploader who does not check the file size before uploading.


USERNAMES: Prohibit using sacred words like God (God_Girl) and foul words like s*xy (S*xyBabyGirl) in usernames too.

I need to explain something here, whats wrong with God_Girl. God here is is used as adjective (in english rules) meaning Girl exalted to the rank of God, just as Pretty Girl. In urdu we say 'chand chehra' meaning 'the face as beautiful as moon', 'chand' representing the quality of the face.

Here is a common name Abdullah, where Abd means 'banda' in urdu, but that does not mean to 'man', 'woman', 'boy' or 'girl' at all which are just sex distinguishing words. Abd means 'obedient' and 'worshiper' in english (for Allah). Abdullah means 'Allah ka banda' or 'Allah ki bandagi karnay wala'.

Now someone may say it means 'God's Girl", then as i wrote earlier, it would mean 'Allah ki larki' (Allah's daughter) and not 'Allah ki bandi'. It is not equivalent to Abdullah. It is very common in urdu as well as in english to say 'Aslam's girl' or 'Aslam's boy' meaning Aslam's daughter or Aslam's son.

Not anyone would mean intentionally either of the meanings i described above, but care must be taken while using such clauses. They may create doubts in the minds of the members.

So the rule should be to prohibit such use of these words whether intentional or unintentional. I hope you got it now.


REFFERENCES: About serious discussion I would say that, while quoting somthing, ppl should also include refferences to artiles/books from which they are quoting, to minimize the possiblity of distorted information, and to give proper credit to the source.


SENSITIVE INFO: Any information such as your address, e-mail or phone number should not be posted in topics because it can raise security issues. Some ppl do it at the end of the post or in their signatures. Though it does not happen very often, but it should be clearly mentioned in forum rules.


FLOODING: It is mentioned in forum rules:

Flooding has always been taken seriously anywhere on the Internet and we are no exception to that. Flooding involves:-

a. Duplicate/Multiple postings
b. Repeated posts from the same member.
c. Meaningless Posts for time pass which no replies r made too after a certain time.

Repeated posts from the same member and Meaningless Posts for time pass are prohibited but prohibition is not being properly practised (specially in Introductions, Sentiments and FOS). It should be properly applied.


ALL CAPS: It is also mentioned in forum rules (not very clearly):

ALL CAPS will be considered yelling & rudeness.

It is also known as SHOUTING. It is prohibited in all forums and some forum softwares automatically change all uppercase sentences to lowercase. Some members are accustomed to using ALL CAPS. All caps posts are alse difficult to read. It shoud be mentioned clearly in forum rules not to use all caps.


ADVERTISEMENT: While there is a section name 'Advertisement' for this, some members do the trick and use their signatures for this purpose to advertise all over the forums (for example, adding links to websites in sig). That should be forbidden.

FOS is not the place for all topics, there are special sections for special topics and they should be posted here, FOS is a place for general discussion.

Quantity, i agree (till now) and i think it needs no explanation. opposition of the new rule about INTROS points to the same.
